PSP X8 Set as default app for PSP files
Since I cannot install to work PSP (Jasc) 9 on Win 10, I'm forced to use the Corel X8 I also have.
It was installed as both 32 and 64 bit, though I'll never use it in 64 bit mode. (Plugins).
I want to set the 32 bit PSP X8 as the default app for PSP files in Win 10, but I cannot as the only one shown in the allowed dialogue (Settings>System>Default Apps) is the 64 bit version.
Can someone please advise how I can set the 32 bit version as the default PSP app?
Thanks

Easiest way is probably too hold down shift - right click a pspimage file - open with - check always use this program - and then select x8 32bit

Just a thought. How about setting File Associations in Win 10.

Been there done that many times...flagpole wrote:Easiest way is probably too hold down shift - right click a pspimage file - open with - check always use this program - and then select x8 32bit
Tried again, but the only option offered is Corel PSP X8 (64bit)
Choose another App... from the same dialogue window.
The only option available is again Corel PSP X8 (64bit).
Thanks for the thought.

NB: Unfortunately with this rubbish Win 10 you can't set file Associations from within a running PaintShop Pro.

Re: PSP X8 Set as default app for PSP files
I'm beginning to think the only solution is to Uninstall PSP X8, then reinstall with the 32 bit only... Assuming I can still do that?

Re: PSP X8 Set as default app for PSP files
I have a folder with pspimage files from each program . eg
psp8.pspimage was saved as pspsimage from Jasc PSP8
X8.pspimage which was saved from PSP X8 (32 bit version)
When I open those in windows explorer and right click any of those files and do Properties it shows that all of the files Opens With PSP 20 (2018).
I then clicked Change and then Open With I was given the choice of
Corel PaintShop Pro 2018 (32 bit)
Corel PaintShop Pro 2018 (64 bit)
Corel PaintShop Pro X9 (32 bit)
etc and
Corel PaintShop ProX8 (32 bit)
I chose X8 (32 bit) and then lower right of the properties box clicked Apply and then OK
Now all pspimnage files open (double click) with PSP X8 (32bit)
So it is possible.

Re: PSP X8 Set as default app for PSP files
Unfortunately, as I've previously noted, nowhere do I get the offer of Corel PaintShop Pro (32bit) to select, only the 64bit version.

Re: PSP X8 Set as default app for PSP files
Since it's not in the list that's presented to you when you click on Choose Default Program, do you see a Browse button under the list of programs? The reason I ask is because I'm on Windows 7 and not Windows 10. If you do have a Browse button, just click on it and navigate to the folder with the 32-bit exe file.arturox wrote:Unfortunately, as I've previously noted, nowhere do I get the offer of Corel PaintShop Pro (32bit) to select, only the 64bit version.

You can indeed browse to the exe in Windows 10.

Re: PSP X8 Set as default app for PSP files
Indeed you can browse to the 32bit .exe. but can't get it to be the default for PSPImage files.
Anyway, thanks to everyone who made suggestions.
I've now completed my own solution and fully uninstalled PSP X8, then reinstalled Only the 32bit version, job done, everything is now as I want it to be.
Well, I'd still rather be using Jasc PSP 9 but Win 10 has totally (Expleted) that up so I'm forced to use the X8 Bloatware.
Thanks

Re: PSP X8 Set as default app for PSP files
I don't believe that is correct. if you select the 32bit exe in program files (x86) it will opien that program. it has no association with the 64 bit version of the program.
But i'm glad you have found a solution.
