Hey everyone. As my username suggests, I'm still fairly new to Studio Pro. I'm currently creating a fanmade trailer using various clips from various shows.
Basically, my dilemma is: Clip 1 shows a girl talking (girl is at a party, so the lighting is bright). Clip 2, taken from a different show, is a boy responding to her. The second clip is much darker, takes place inside a house, but the lighting isn't the best.
Is there a way to somehow make both clips look similar in style (besides monochrome, as I'd like to keep the colors). I tried playing with the hue/saturation on the 2nd clip, as well as adding the brightness/contrast effect but the clip is still dark. What other options do I have? I'd like the 2nd clip to be in the same style as the first. Sony Vegas allows people to use coloring which basically alters all the clips into a similar style but StudioPro doesn't have this.

Hi New2Corel,
For colour correction and matching in Videostudio I like to use the NewBlue ColorFast plugin which you can find under "FX" in the Ultimate version. This has some great correction and grading tools. The only issue I have with it is the size of the preview window. You can see a tutorial for using it here:

It is being used with another application but the principles are the same.

Never mind video, can you make one photo exposed correctly equal another photo that is over- or under-exposed? The answer is unlikely, unless exposures are reasonably close. Typically what happens is either noise creeps in to the under-exposed one when doing any brightness adjustments, or the detail is not there in the over-exposed one.
VS has lots of filters that can help as long as the two video clips aren't too different in exposure. The previous post gives one, but you should try the available filters to see if you can get something that you like; I recommend you start with Auto Exposure and Auto levels to see if those do the trick for you. There is no magic bullet here.

The only issue I have with it is the size of the preview window.
One great strength of VS is the fact that the three windows in Edit (Preview, Library and Timeline) are independent and can be moved or resized. Most tower PCs can run a second screen and I have the Preview shown on a 19" second monitor with the Library and Timelines on the main screen. I also use the output to the second screen to run a projector so, in practice I can have a 100" Preview window if I want.
The settings are held in Layout Settings under the Settings tab.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Hi Terfyn,
Thanks for pointing out the strength of Videostudio with regards to customizing the layout. I was referring to the preview screen within ColorFast itself since I primarily work on a laptop.
