Metadata

Post by wsmyth »

Brand new ASP 3 user.

I am viewing a set of photos in a folder. I select one photo, and it appears in the main window. I need to change the date of the photo in the Metadata area. I click all over the place, and I cannot get the date area in Metadata to be editable. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you.

Hi

What you need to do is to:
  • Bring up the Metadata tab (from what you say, you found it OK)
Click the Default set of Metadata if you don't see the word "Default" in the top right corner of the Metadata tab
Select the component of the date you wish to modify, for example, to modify the year to 2015, click the 2017 part
Use the up/down arrows on the date field to increase or decrease the date

The date portion needs to be modified (from 26 to 21). I double-click on the day portion. (I have tried single-click; nothing happens.) It becomes highlighted. Up, down, right, left, etc. do nothing. Nothing changes in field.

It allows me to enter keywords below, but not to change the date or anything else in the upper Metadata information.

Thanks.

I forgot to say that there is NO up or down arrow on the screen. The date field is displayed, with the day portion, 26, highlighted. No keys work to change any value on the screen, and there is no arrow on the screen to click to make the value go up or down.

I can only imagine that you have made the file write-protected in some way, either with a hardware or windows permission setting.
On mine, as soon as you call for the metadata tab, you see this:

Forgot to say, although my main platform is Linux, the snapshot I showed you is from my Windows desktop. So we are not talking version differences here.

I have checked the security and the read-only status of all the files and folders. All is clear. I will try Corel support, and let you know how it comes out. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

I realized just now that I am using AfterShot 3 instead of AfterShot 3 Pro. I would not think that this makes a difference.

I did contact Corel technical support and they are looking into it.

Hmm
If you have bought a licence for ASP Pro, and have entered the key that goes with it, then things should go as I wrote. I can't simulate ASP 3 normal on the machine I have with me, so I can only hope your woes are down to this. And wish you good luck!

It is AfterShot 3, not AfterShot 3 Pro. I got it free for buying VideoStudio Ultimate X10. I have not yet heard from Corel on what is wrong. This could be why I cannot change the Metadata, but I doubt it.

I cannot change Metadata with AfterShot 3. I need AfterShot Pro 3. I am returning to LightRoom. It also has facial recognition.
