PaintShop vs Photoshop: erasing the difference.
Please.
How to make an internal glow of an object with a transparent fill? In PS, this is possible by setting the fill on 0%.
Is there any way to do this here?

If your ellipse is on a separate layer, it is easier (but it is feasible if it is on the same layer too):
- with the Magic wand, select OUTSIDE of the ellipse (making sure the Contiguous is checked)
- add a Drop shadow of 0,0, 100% opacity, 100 blur and the color of your choice
If you want it darker, you can repeat the Drop Shadow
If you want it "thicker", invert the selection (so the INSIDE of the shape is selected) and add a Gaussian blur.

Re: PaintShop vs Photoshop: erasing the difference.
Varekaj - is there an actual Photoshop tutorial that shows all of the steps for this effect? I'm not sure what you mean when you say "setting the fill on 0%" What are all of the working parts?
If it's a vector ellipse you can just use a gradient fill instead of a fully transparent one. The gradient will fade from opaque to transparent at the rate you want.

Oh thank you! It's interesting solution! But I could do it only using mask, hiding dropshadow outside. Psd file is attached. With selection not work for some reason.Cassel wrote: it is feasible
Although I understood your meaning. Thank you!

Similar internal glows in the PS are done just like that. In the layer property are seleced the Internal glows parameters. Then the Fill of the shape is set to zero. The fill disappears. The glow remains.LeviFiction wrote: I'm not sure
Opacity and filling in PS have separate settings. It is interesting.
Vector or raster - does not matter.
Gradient does not fit absolutely.
Excuse me for ugly example. Thank you.
I will ask more.

Oooh, we have that in the Layer Styles. It's called "Layer" instead of "Fill." So in the layer styles add your inner-glow. Then simply uncheck the "Layer" effect. You can also leave it checked and just change the Opacity slider in that "Layer" effect if you don't want the layer fully transparent.
1) Open Layer properties
2) Select Layer Styles tab
3) Turn on Inner Glow
4) Turn off Layer

Very bribes the possibility of free transformation in the PS. In the PSP is impossible?

We do have mesh warp, but it only warps the inside of the image. The edges are anchored in place. It's not nearly as powerful as the one in PS.

Can I see the mask layer directly? If I leave it visible one, it get a transparent layer. Sometimes it is necessary. (the PS it can)

Re: PaintShop vs Photoshop: erasing the difference.
Yes and no. Yes it is possible to see the area of the mask, but no it's not like it is in Photoshop.
PSP uses a Ruby Lithe overlay for both masks and selections. The equivalent of Photoshop's Quick Mask mode. So if you select a mask and click on the "highlight mask" button a semi-transparent red overlay showing the masked areas will pop up. You can change the opacity and color of this overlay in the layer properties. This option is also under the Layers menu: Layers -> View Overlay (CTRL + ALT + V)
There is another option, but it makes PSP a little unstable so I don't recommend it. What you can do is use CTRL + A to select the whole mask, then CTRL + F to float the selection. What you get is the greyscale version of the mask as you would see it in Photoshop. THen simply defloat the selection and it'll drop back down onto the mask. This can and will in some cases crash PSP.

Re: PaintShop vs Photoshop: erasing the difference.
Oh thank you very much for useful advice and interesting video!
A tip with a floating selection is very useful to me!
One more question.
Gradient fill
А radial type, there's no difference how you draw a line. It turns out the same. Always centered in the center of the canvas.
In PS, it depends on where and where you made the line. Is it true?

Re: PaintShop vs Photoshop: erasing the difference.
Correct, the gradient tool in PSP is very different compared to Photoshop. The gradient fill tool does not currently support changing the gradient center and focal points. Those are edited in the gradient editor on the color selection dialog. And you will only see the move of the center point if you use the fill bucket not the gradient fill tool.

Oh,I did not know that I can move the center in the Filling. Excellent! But I found another Graduated filter and in it I can do it too, almost like in PS.
It is unfortunate that there are so few video lessons. It would be very useful for popularizing such a wonderful program.
It's very nice, when I looking the PS lessons, and can do the same in PSP

Re: PaintShop vs Photoshop: erasing the difference.
Corel is currently building their YouTube channel and the Discovery Center with videos left and right. So they are in the process of doing just that, but there are also so many tools, commands, shortcuts, settings, that it will take a while to cover all of them!It is unfortunate that there are so few video lessons. It would be very useful for popularizing such a wonderful program.
