Windows 7 running VS 10 Pro. We are attempting to
capture a DVD disk into the program for further editing.
This is a personal DVD, there is no copy rights on the DVD.
It simply says “Windows has encountered a problem and
must close the program. Since this has never occurred before
I cannot offer anything does anyone have any thoughts?

Sounds more like an issue with the DVD rather than X10, can you play the DVD on your computer using WMP or VLC

Hi Bill
Can you explain the process you are using to import the DVD video files.
Also at what point does the error occur

Re: Capture digital from disk, windows has shut down the pro
Good Day Trevor,
Yes here is a step by step;
Open the program (have upgraded since my last posting here some time ago we are now running VS 10 Pro) to the capture tab and select drive for DVD location.
Highlight it, then use the top tab of next screen to select all chapters.
As soon as I use the Import Start button on the bottom of screen I get this:
“A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you when
a solution is available”. Even if I should get the program open the DVD successfully,
it does not give me a reading on the meter for hours of it; I only get the
minutes. As 45 minutes instead of 1 hour and 46 minutes. Have already removed program and tried re-install with the same results. Lost here, can you turn on a light? Good talking with you
again, it has been a while!

Re: Capture digital from disk, windows has shut down the pro
Hi Bill
Is the problem with the single disc?
Are you able to import from another disc, if yes then I suspect the disc is at fault.
I have tried importing from DVD without problems.
I do not understand your comment regarding the minutes, I do not see any reference to time only sizes GB-Mb etc.
I doubt this will change things but try importing the disc from the Edit tab
Start a new project
Right click timeline for Import Digital Media
Browse for the DVD disc drive.
The panel shows the individual thumbnails, tick only the Titles, do not select Chapters
Does that import ok?
Option two, may work but not always.
Copy the entire contents from disc to your pc hard drive
Rename files called VTS_01_1.VOB, to VTS_01_1.MPG
Do this for all VOB files.
Now try inserting the files to the timeline, right click timeline for Insert Video, browse for the renamed files.

Re: Capture digital from disk, windows has shut down the pro
Hi Trevor,
It is telling me that it is an invalid clip or Windows shuts the program down! It picks the chapters out of the DVD just fine but when I click to Import that’s all I get “in valid clip or windows shuts down the program”.
The minute’s referred to are the project minutes or digital clock under
The working screen to the left inside the program. Question? Does the message
Board allow “screen shots” to be posted? If I could get to the vob's I wouldn't need the program to
apply to hard drive. I also have a video file convert program that allows me to change to any file
format. vob, mpg, but the video needs to be on hard disk first hence the ongoing problem.
Thanks for your time,
