I see. I don't create .mov files; that's why I see no issues.

Re: VideoStudio X9 rendering problem
Sorry to have been so long before posting.
Short version – nothing I tried worked I still have the same rendering problem of results although actually having high bitrate –
showing severe image breakup as if the bitrate was too low – all results were similar to the 30 sec sample posted on YouTube.
Long version – if you can stand it.
1) from a fresh start of my PC – re-installed VSx9.5.
2) immediately after installation tried to render the same short MP4 clip – when set to Same as Project Settings got the error:

Could not even use custom as that also got the same error message.
3) Used MPEG-4 – the result was the same image breakup.
4) Tried the resetting procedure as given by Corel Support
5) Restart PC
6) This time VSx9.5 Trial would accept Same as Project Settings – but same bad result.
7) Installed QuickTime (BTW – before this VSx9 would not import .MOV/QuickTime files, and could not choose MOV for render) – restart PC – but same bad results.
8. In desperation and removing the last possible incompatibility – uninstalled K-Lite Mega codec pack 12.5.0 – restart PC – nope, still bad render.
I really do thank everyone for going above and beyond in trying to help.
But I think I have run out of options, and have to accept VSx9.5 is just incompatible with my specific PC system and/or configuration.
Thank you everyone.

Re: VideoStudio X9 rendering problem
Hi Vincent
Can you confirm which version of Video Studio you are using
Go to Help About
I see 19.7.0.12 (32bit Ultimate)
What do you see?
I ask because you refer to VS X9.5 and then refer to installing the trial versions?
Seems strange to be able to download the trials for older versions never mind installing them.
Ok Quick test
Go to Preferences F6
Check/Tick Show Messages when inserting first clip…… Ok to close panel
Close Video Studio and restart.
Add your video “P1270122Trim.mp4” to the top timeline
You should receive a message to match properties, yes to accept and close panel.
Share – Same as first clip, does that cause problems.

I have already uninstalled the VSx9 trial -
but had captured screen shots during the installation and use -

Here are the screenshots when I last installed the Trial version -
(originally to find the installation program I searched for VideoStudio X9 and used the downloads only from reputable sites -
the more recent installations were from the saved VS folder created when installed)

When installation was completed on opening I got this message

I also receive an email : "Thank you for registering your software" from Corel
Render -
When VS would allow Same as Project me this is the render screen
dropping down the Same as Project only gave me that single choice
(I only have a single 30 sec video in the project)

Please note the properties do match the original/source file
Tried Custom when VS would not allow me to use Same as Project

again the properties do match the source.
When VS wouldn't even allow Custom - MPEG-4 render

of course properties are now different - but the target bitrate is more than acceptable at 15000 kbps
When I do get to render - every time I get the confirmation:

On exit I also get the screen -

Thank you.

Re: VideoStudio X9 rendering problem
Hi Vincent
Thanks for that info, sorry for my confusion, seems strange that you are able to run X9 trial when the current version is X10.
You say you have already uninstalled the trial and those images are from the time you installed the trial.
Have you purchased any version of Video Studio, and if so what version have you bought?

Re: VideoStudio X9 rendering problem
None of the trial versions worked for me (X9, x10 did not render properly for me, x8.5 would not even start)lata wrote:Hi Vincent

Therefore I did not purchase any version of VS.
Thanks

Re: VideoStudio X9 rendering problem
FWIW - just a follow up
I was still in communications with Corel Support -
Corel Support:
my reply -
However my PC config
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Mainboard : FOXCONN 2AB1
Processor : AMD Athlon II X4 645 @ 3100 MHz
RAM: 6GB DDR3 666MHz
Video Card : ATI Radeon HD 4200
Device Audio : ATI Technologies Radeon HD 4200 High Definition Audio
Monitor Type : ViewSonic VX2270 SERIES
Multiple HDD: totaling 10TB + SSD system drive
My CPU is 3x faster than the system requirements for VideoStudio X9
and the rest of the configuration far exceeds the system requirements.
I am not too sure what if any hardware acceleration may be available to make a difference to a simple render.
Regardless - I am not willing to purchase just to find out it still does not work
(kind of defeats the whole purpose of a trial)
Thanks,
I was still in communications with Corel Support -
Corel Support:
followed the instructions and re-installed VideoStudio X9 TrialHere is what I suggest.
1. Press Windows Key + R and type msconfig
2. Go to the Services tab and check on the "Hide all Microsoft Services" then click on Disable all.
3. Then go to the Startup tab and click on Disable all.
4. Once done, click on Apply and restart your computer.
5. After restarting, try running the installer/program again.
my reply -
Corel Support's response:Sep 12, 00:07 EDT
I followed your instructions and disabled all non-Microsoft services and all start-ups, restarted.
Re-installed VideoStudio X9 trial.
Unfortunately it made no difference.
I am still getting the same rendering problem as described previously.
MediaInfo of the resultant rendered video shows bitrate of 14.5Mb/s - but the video looks like low bitrate -
A guess - somehow VSx9 (trial) is "feeding" the source video at a slow rate (if that is possible), and the render is working on that feed to give a result that looks like low bitrate - but yet the result is actually of a high bitrate?
So it seems that there may be a performance difference between the Trial version and the full purchased version, as pointed out by aljimenez early on in this thread.Sep 12, 01:17 EDT
Well since it is still having performance issues, that would mean that, that is the best that the trial version can offer.
Fortunately, in the full version, there is an option for hardware acceleration, which maximizes the hardware of your computer for better performance.
However my PC config

Not good...UnknownVT wrote: (kind of defeats the whole purpose of a trial)Thanks,
We have raised the issue of the trials limitations with Corel our thoughts being the same as yours.
I have again tested your video file which works ok for me using X10.5
Corel mentioned Hardware Acceleration, I would have thought the trial would have that option, long time since I ran the trial.
Can you go to Settings Preferences Performance tab ( F6) If acceleration is an option, can you deselect all check boxes.
Your only option now is to purchase the program, I guess you are gonna say no to that, understandable, but could ask for your money back within I think 30 days.
However Corel were offering X10 at a good price, this post refers
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 23#p347160
Go to Help Messages to see if any offers exist.

I have checked the Performance preferences every time I installed/used Trial versions of VideoStudio (x9 and x10)
The hardware acceleration options were always greyed out.
However, I really think hardware acceleration option is a very, very slim chance of affecting such a simple render of a 30 sec .mp4 file, which is nothing out of the ordinary -
humble Windows Movie Maker, several versions of Avidemux, Handbrake, MediaCoder, VirtualDub, and just about any converter/encoder I have ever tried never had any problems rendering/encoding this kind of file.
This is why I was so shocked when the most basic simple test failed with VideoStudio.
I know VideoStudio has to work well -
so it has to be at my end -
my PC system or configuration probably has some incompatibility that prevents VS from rendering properly.
Thanks for the thoughts.
