I didn't ask for the MediaInfo text file, I asked for the actual video clip.

The actual video clip is in the "Dropbox link" in my post

I merely attached the MediaInfo for info.

Thank you.

No problem!

Should have put a linefeed between the two links (I'll do that now, and make the font bigger if poss)

Thanks

FWIW my full version of VS X10 had no difficulty rendering that clip, producing a new clip with exactly the same properties (and quality) as the original. I used Same as Project Settings since insertion of the clip into the timeline produced the usual message asking if I wanted the project properties to match those of the clip.

The new rendered clip also played just fine and in excellent quality on both Media Player Classic and VLC player.

Thank you so much for trying.

This is why I can't understand why the official Corel 30 days free Trial versions (x9 and X10) had any problems doing a simple render.

I am so envious because I really would like to use VideoStudio (preferably X9) - but if the Trial version can't do a simple render -
it fails the trial for me.

It has to be my end - my PC system/configuration, or some simple setting -
just wish I could figure out what it is.

Thank you.

Just did a test on your clip with the X10 trial version using the same as source clip settings. The render worked fine without any problems and I cannot see any difference between your source clip and the rendered video.
Using MediaInfo I notice some differences: the source uses variable frame rate which VS has trouble with and so switches to constant fps., also my system cannot do 60fps in the source format so it does 30fps.

My conclusion is that the trial VS X10 has no trouble with your source video to create a video of equal quality.

Also did the same test using the full X10 and the results were the same with some minor variations in the MediaInfo check. These may be simply due to the fact that the trial version has several features, etc missing or disabled.

Excellent!

Thank you for doing this.

I'm glad you found the Trial version would render correctly.
(I really appreciate this, as I know the Trial version is a large download and install in several GBs)

None of the Trials I tried (x9, x10) did that.

So it has be something at my end -
my PC system/configuration,
or some setting I have missed.

I just wish I knew what to look at.

Thank you, very much appreciated.

Hi
Thanks for that sample, nice voices, pity that the audience could not keep quiet during the performance.

The properties of that video look quite normal, although Video Studios upper limit is 20,000kbps when creating a template, although will replicate these original settings when using Same as First Clip.
Using Cvsx9.5 and X10
I did not have any problems in rendering the sample, either video or audio quality.

MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 29.97 fps
Frame-based
H.264 High Profile Video: 23999 Kbps, 16:9
48000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 125 Kbps

One thing comes to mind, have you installed the QuickTime codec, this may be required for Mov and some MP4 type video files.

Thanks Trevor for the confirmation that the mp4 video I was trying to render was not a problem.

I think I have the QuickTime codec installed (I don't know which directory and or registers to check for its installation)
But I can play QuickTime .MOV files fine with all my players, and open them in all my video editors/converters (even the lowly Windows Movie Maker)

However I don't believe QuickTime codec is needed for that video I was trying to render -
unless, of course VSx9.5 actually uses QuickTime codec to render?

FWIW - the full song/performance of that 30 sec clip on YouTube -
https://youtu.be/bAbxY8ErF28

This was processed/generated with the humble Windows Movie Maker.
I missed the first few seconds of the performance, so took my audio recording, and sync'd it at the start with a couple of frames grabbed from the full video -
the (second) still frame used just before the start of the video part was actually the very first frame of the video, so on playing the video seems to suddenly come alive....

I was initially trying to replicate this in VSx9.5 trial when I first came across the rendering issue.
So resorted to render the simplest thing I could, and even reduced it to a 30 sec clip, so I could experiment with different settings reasonably quickly.

Thanks for all the help.

Hi

“I think I have the QuickTime codec installed (I don't know which directory and or registers to check for its installation)”

View your pc start menu Quicktime should be in the list.

I realise that you are using MP4 type video, the first versions of MP4 were derived from Mov video, so some MP4 may benefit by having that codec installed.

Thanks.

Doesn't look as if I have QuickTime in the Start menu.
(However I do have K-Lite mega codec pack 12.3.5 - could that have installed QuickTime?)

However I wrote to Corel Support and got a reply:

my eMail to Corel Support

Sep 1, 15:16 EDT

Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X9 full 30-day free trial - severe rendering problem.

Short sample on YouTube -
https://youtu.be/dfb6WS1aTaU

I used the simplest possible render – just of a single video – no editing at all, and set to render (not

SmartRender) using Same as Project Settings (to minimize input errors)

Another issue is when playing the rendered video with Media Player Classic showed error of Audio Switcher::Out

(have never seen this error before) after closing error message, video plays with no audio.
[attached image of Audio Switcher::Out error message +details of my PC]
Perhaps these instruction might get the render to work?

I have already uninstalled the VSx9.5 trial -
But I'll install it again tomorrow -
and try the Corel support instructions

Thanks

Hi

Uninstalling Video Studio using Windows Program and Features, then choosing to remove all personal files will remove that folder.
The Cleanup tool will not remove personal data and not remove that 20.0 folder.

Running video studio will generate a new 20.0 folder, the process to rename is a manual reset of the program and could improve/cure some problems.

As you are having problems with several versions of Video Studio, I doubt that resetting the 20.0 folder will help as each program has a separate folder (18.0 for CVSX8) (19.0 for CVSX9)

I know that most Mov and MP4 will work ok without QT, but I would still try installing the codec, as described in the YouTube video.

My two installed versions of VS in a laptop and a desktop run fine without any Quicktime being present. This includes handling .mov files.

Hi

CVSX10

as a test I have uninstalled my QT codec, when I try to render to Mov I get this error
The Same as first Clip is also unavailable, I am sure it was available with the Codec installed.

I have no problem in inserting Mov's to the timeline nor rendering to another format, but quicktime is a no go.
