Software differences
I am new and I would be interested in finding out the differences between Video Studio 10 and the latest Pinnacle studio software I did notice the price difference, but wonder what are the real differences? Should I stick with video studio, as I'm not prolific in video editing, just occasional vacation clips from my dSLR. I have been using Video Studio since version 4. Wondered if anyone has tried Pinnacle, they look very similar.

Re: Software differences
I have moved your post to the Video Studio forum since you are more likely to get answers there. I can't give any comments myself since I don't use Pinnacle Studio.

Re: Software differences
As a past Pinnacle user, I find VideoStudio much easier to use. Pinnacle came from the AVID family of professional editors so now probably has a few special options but Pinnacle and VS are coming together with each new issue. I would suggest you stick to VS for your limited needs.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Hi, they are not similar, even if they share few modules.rwhunt12 wrote:I am new and I would be interested in finding out the differences between Video Studio 10 and the latest Pinnacle studio software I did notice the price difference, but wonder what are the real differences? You write "I'm not prolific in video editing, just occasional vacation clips", so the best software 4 U is the one you know to work with, no mater how glitzy the other one looks at first glance.

Re: Software differences
I have both. VS since X4, and Pinnacle (in it's current incarnation) since Avid Studio. Each edit differently. With Pinnacle's lineage coming from pro editors (Avid Liquid), the learning curve will be steeper, but more control (if that's your thing). Pinnacle has features that VS doesn't, and VS has features the PS doesn't. Major difference is in the timeline editing. If you've used a pro editor, you'll feel more at home with Pinnacle and the ability to customize your keyboard shortcuts.
Being that said, if you are a hobbyist and are comfortable with VS, continue to use it. A lot of the same features are in both. It's not the software, but the person editing that creates the video. The software is just a tool. I've used both to great success.
