VS 8 SE capture problem

Post by yellowfrog »

I've read the FAQ and searched the forum, but noone seems to have experienced my problem.

My comp spec:
P4 2.4 GHz HT
1 Gb RAM DDR 3200
Win XP SP1

Using a Canon MV-830i.

Videostudio 8 SE came with the camera. I've installed it and updated it according to the FAQ except for step 5, whereas the update failed, but i thought it didn't matter that much.

Now to my problem:
When I start VS 8 it asks me if I want to run Movie Wizard or the Edit tool. I choose the Wizard. A windows comes up and I click the Capture tab. I'm in the Capture tab but noting happens. It requires one click at the window and the top bar of the window will add "(Not responding)" after the software title. This happens every single time, whether I have my cam connected or not. I have to close the program with the applications manager.

In the edit tool, there is a capture button. If I click this one all the buttons will gray out and the program hangs.

I can capture with Windows Movie Maker so I know the firewire port and the driver work.

I hope someone out there can help me.

Go to the Tools menu and select Change Capture Plugin -- make sure the DirectShow capture plugin is selected.
