So if a few more can reproduce this and on different machines ( Windows 8 , Windows 7) , then this should be reported as a definite bug.
Does not happen in X9.
So far only three of us.
Any More??

Why waiting for "a few more"?
Many of the PSP users might not even know about Merge (just watch the earlier posts in this thread).
Were are users that paid for the program, and from my point of view there is no minimum number of users to experience this bug.

Corel, please work on it - asap!

Because if more users on different systems are experiencing the issue it helps with troubleshooting.

This is a User to User forum so you are not speaking to Corel. On occasion they will monitor the forum but I wouldn't count on this as a means of communication.

You can contact them directly here:

http://www.corel.com/en/contact-us/index.html

And yes, I am seeing the issue on Windows 7 Professional.

I was aware of this being a user board. But since it is hosted on corel.com I guess they will read here, and I hope the better part of the Corel team does.

The support ... is a joke, sorry.
When PSPX9 had the popup on exit, telling me about PSP2018 being available to existing users, I asked what the "new workspace" looks like and what the differences to PSPX9 are.
The answer of the support was "There is no information on PSP2018 yet" ... *facepalm*

Kathy_9 Thanks for confirmation on Windows 7. Thet would sugest that it is not a conflict with Windows 10 and PSP 2018.

I just tested File > HDR > Single Raw Photo and again the freeze up occurs and the Save and Close button is lost at the bottom. So it appears that much of the HDR section is broken in the change from X9 to 2018.

So today I managed to test it again and I have to confirm: Merge freezes again.

Did anyone already report this to Corel?

I have had the same problem, and it was driving me nuts. Brand new version of PSP, and the HDR module has NO new features, upgrades, or increased speed! If it hadn't been labor day, I would have called up and demanded my money back and stuck with my bulletproof copy of X8. I tried hitting the - (Minus) sign in the small selection window where you can't see the files nearly as well as in the Organizer, and then I managed to get an image to merge. When the HDR screen freezes on me, a black bar covers the process button, with a message to hit F1 for help. I tried that, and the help window for PSP X7 came up, which was really a surprise, considering that version is long gone from my computer. Probably evidence of sloppy cleanup by Corel while creating new editions. About the only positive I can verify is that the opening screen for 2018 is faster than X8, but it's nowhere instantaneous. It's going on 4 years now that I have had a Panasonic camera that can take RAW photos, and it's STILL not supported by Corel.

Yesterday the support replied.
They told me to go to C:\Users\[MY NAME]\Appdata\Local\Corel PaintShop Pro\ and rename the folder 20.0 to 20.0_old. After that I should start PSP, holding the shift key and answering the question wether my workspace should be overwritten with "yes".

I asked in response if the workspace was the reason for Merge freezing and what might happen if I change the workspace to my prefered settings again.

Their answer was "Just do what we told you" (but with words mor polite).

To me it seems as I already did that when I was uninstalling and re-installing PSP2018 (including deleting all file folders before re-installing)?

I followed those directions and no change still loses the Save and Close button at bottom and Merge screen freezes.
Makes one wonder if Corel was able to duplicate the problem and if their solution worked for them.

I use Windows 7, and the file structure: C:\Users\[MY NAME]\Appdata\Local\Corel PaintShop Pro\ is nowhere to be found. Nothing even close to that. I guess I'll have to call them up - Pray for me, and may God have mercy on my soul!

Do you have Hidden Files activated? If not, go to Control Panel > File Explorer Options > View and tick "Show hidden files, folders and drives".

I sent an answer to the support, telling them that I already did that.
Yesterday they asked me to run WinAudit and send in the report and a screenshot of the error (I sent a video capture of the screen).

Today they told me that the driver of my graphic card needs to be updated and that I should stop all the tasks in the background.
My answer: Merge from PSPX9 ran properly with that driver and the background tasks.

So what is Corel support doing? Running around in the fog?
This is annoying.

It gets more and more annoying.

The support wants me to turn off my antivirus software and all background processes.
I responded that all these tasks were running while Merge of PSPX9 was running without freezing ... their answer was: Just do what we tell you.

What kind of support is this?
