I'd like to make a custom desktop wallpaper that is a little darker than the default that you see when you boot to the Windows 8.1 desktop. That's simple enough. I already made it.
But the issue is (and I've always noticed this when I use lighter colors) when I look at my monitor, the color does not appear flat and even throughout. It starts out a little darker at the upper left and then gets a little lighter as my eyes move down.
I have a Samsung LED type monitor. Model is UN19C4000PD.
So I don't know what to do here if there is anything I can do to make these lighter colors look more flat and even.
Or maybe this is something I'm doing wrong in Paint Shop Pro when I create my background. I just start with a white background layer and then add a new raster layer and then use the flood fill tool to fill the raster layer to my specific color, and finally I merge layer down and it's d

Does it look the same in and out of paintshop? if so then it is not a paintshop problem.
Re: I've got a bit of a problem...
Perhaps that's the nature of LED monitors because they are backlit.

In PSP, revert the background image up/down and another left/right mirrorring (and save them). And place them as your background. If you see the same visual defect with the different images, the culprit is your monitor.357mag wrote: It starts out a little darker at the upper left and then gets a little lighter as my eyes move down.
You may also take a sample of color in each corner with the dropper tool and compare the RVB values.

I've decided not to monkey around with my current monitor. I ordered a Viewsonic LCD. It's got great specs and a very inexpensive price.
