Hi I'm running Windows 10 with Videostudio X10
I have a number of audio clips in my time line which I lay over the other at differing intervals to get the right transition of music etc
I can individually move all of them freely on the timeline, including over each other
In the instance where I might have 15 cips and they are properly placed and then I choose to shorten the third one I end up with a gap
To fill that gap I want to move audio clips 4 to 15 as one group (including all the overlays I have already made) to close the gap and overlay clip 3 at the right point
I'm unable to do this, whether I select all clips (4-15) or group clips (4 to 15) I can only butt them up against clip 3 not overlay them
To overlay on the now amended clip 3, I have to move each one individually, meaning all of my sequences are lost and I have to redo them clip by clip
Is there a way to move a group of clips to overlay another
Thanks
Matt

Re: Unable to move a group of audio clips to overlay another
Hi Matt
Welcome to the forums
A quick test confirms what you are seeing, seems quite random as to why the clips will not overlay? Sometimes it worked for me?
Are you able to move the 3 clips to the right and get them to overlay?
Then move all back left.
You could try using another overlay track, move the 3 clips down, then move 4-15 to left to overlap and apply a transition or fade in / out. A bit of a workround.
Don’t think this has been reported before, strange as it should be a simple thing to do?
Post Updated
Given it a little more thought, use two music tracks, alternate your audio clips between tracks.
Easy to overlay and right click for fade in / out
View in Sound Mixer allows us to view the wave form.
I tend to do that as a matter of course which may explain why I have not noticed the drag / overlay problem?

Re: Unable to move a group of audio clips to overlay another
Thanks for all the great suggestions, regardless of which way you move the clips or how many I could not overlay as a group. You could move a group which was overlayed to a different place on the track but it would only butt up against the other clip not overlay. The idea of two tracks works, so I'll go with that. The only drawback is that is doesn't automatically mix the fading and transition of tracks. So to some extent does not solve the original constraint. Thanks for the idea, it would be good to see Corel allow this in a future version

Hi
I am away from my pc for a few days but will look again later, don't think I will find a solution other than using two tracks
