Can't get the materials palette visible

Post by elvibora »

Hello.
I Can't get the materials palette visible by using the View or Palettes menus or by using the F6 key (PSP 2018).

I checked this older post: "missing materials palette !" at this URL: http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=41463

These are the Solutions that I tried from that post.:
1. try resetting your work space by exiting the program and then relaunching it by clicking the desktop icon while holding down the shift key.

2. there is one thing more you can try before resetting your workspace. Pressing Control+Shift+T will display all palettes in their home location, with floating palettes being in the center of the screen, more-or-less. However, you will probably have a lot of manual repositioning to do in order to get them back where you want them.

The solutions above are did not work.

Anyone have a better solution?

Thanks so much,

You don't specify a version, so I'll answer with my knowledge of X7. I assume that there's a similar option (somewhere) in later versions, and I know it was there in X4.
Under menu File/Preferences.../Reset preferences there's a option "Make all toolbars/palettes visible and on screen".
You may need to restart PSP, I don't know.
Good luck, I hope it works.

Thanks for your reply Forriner - I did mention the version (PSP 2018).
Your solution was not viable for PSP 2018 - SO I still need help

Apologies about the version, I obviously needed more coffee :)

Do you mean that you tried it and it didn't work, or that you couldn't find the option?

The PSP20187 user manual English pdf : http://help.corel.com/paintshop-pro/v20 ... o-2018.pdf

Page 723, Resetting all preferences, choose File/Preferences/Reset preferences, and choose 'make all toolbars and palettes visible and on screen', sounds like it should work.

Edit: you may need to be in the most flexible workspace in order to find that menu option, not Manage or so. I'm not familiar with PSP 2018.

For future reference, the most flexible workspace in PSP2018 is Edit tab, Complete workspace (not Essentials). :-)

I don't understand this, and now realize that your original post was not detailed enough. In PSP2018, using the Essentials workspace, the option for the Materials palette shows up for me under View>Palettes and under the Palettes menu item. It had a checkmark beside it when I switched to the Essentials workspace, and the palette was visible.

In your original post were you saying that you could not see the option for Materials in either View>Palettes or the Palettes menu item? Or were you actually able to see those options and simply could not activate the checkmark by clicking beside the option?
