printer icc profiles

Post by andrewch59 »

Now I would like to say I'm purely an amateur when it comes to PSP. I take analogue photos using xray film for the negative, but spend a lot of time in PSP cleaning scratches and dust off my pics. Recently I all I purchased an Epson SC P800 to print transparencies (or digital negatives) for alternate printing processes.
I have loaded the icc profiles for the different papers I will be using into the correct directory, but when I go into PSP all I find are the six standard Epson profiles to use. HELP PLEASE!
Also when setting up the print I go to paper size and click on roll paper and the only option I have is banner and then after putting in 17 inch roll it asks me for a height?? This is a thirty metre roll of paper, if I want to bundle several pics together I would have thought the program would automatically fit them for the most economic printing?
Or is this more to do with the Epson driver??
Thankyou in advance for any advice

I'm not going to please Corel here but if you are 'serious' about printing you need something more capable than PSP.
I use QImage. It's a specialized printing program that is also quite capable of editing as well. QImage will control all your profiles and setups and you can save all the various variable as 'jobs'. http://www.ddisoftware.com/qimage-u/

Hi brucet, thankyou for a really quick response. I have just checked it out on you tube and it looks great, why hasn't Corel got something similar, surely a graphics program should have relatively sophisticated print module, you would think.

We have to careful not to blame Corel for everything!!!! :D

I'm a great believer in having a number of smaller specialty programs rather than one bloated program that has too many shortfalls.
QImage has a very helpful forum. http://ddisoftware.com/tech/index.php

Hi andrewch59, QImage is excellent, but I still do most of my printing and editing from PSPX9. I love the ease of using PSP Print Layout.

For all practical purposes the PSP Color Management simply does not work with an Epson printer. Since it is very importance to only run one Color Management system at a time I turn OFF Color Management in PSP and setup my Epson printer driver with the popper ICC file for my ink and paper. You will need to select your printer and printer properties from with in PSP.

Purchased Qimage and can now use all the profiles I like. It still goes through the printer driver and depends on what type of paper you choose, but all the third party paper profiles are then a choice through qimage
