Start-up Quirks of X9 latest update and X10

Post by Davidk »

In my movie class I've been exercised lately by students asking about the welcome page addition to X9 (latest update) and X10: specifically, how to bypass it and start in Edit, as the older software used to do. The preferred startup page setting has been the answer, but troubling (to me) has been the variability of the welcome page itself - I saw it at home, but never in class. And the light  has only just dawned, so I'm passing it on . . the welcome page needs the internet available - there's quite a few choices on the page that need it. So logically, if the net isn't available that welcome page isn't either. And ditto for the welcome page in the list options for preferred startup page. The doco doesn't say anything about this.

Hi David

That start up screen option can be selected from F7 Preferences
Slight issue with size of panel using X9. As image
There may also be a problem with the UI Edit tab incorrect display. Initially F7 to set default does not work. But drag any panel out of position then F7 does the job.
You can also try pressing Share to refresh UI followed by Edit

Press Share – Welcome – Edit to show the wrong display?
Share -- Edit to reset
