PSP by default uses the documents directory to store a bunch of files of the various tools (tools, tubes, frames, and so on). I don't want those things in my documents subdirectory but rather in a directory of it's own so that my own files remain separate from what are really 'program files'.
So normally I go through manually and delete all these file locations. But, every time one installs a new version the situation is re-created. Pain in the bt.
Is there any way to 'bulk' delete these options? Simply deleting the directory doesln't seem to work. Is there a registry location or an 'ini file where this info is stored so it could be simply deleted?
Thanks
Richard

Re: PSP file locations for tubes/frames/etc
There is a registry location yes. And it must be edited before opening PSP.
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Corel\PaintShop Pro\X9\FileLocations
Each location type is its own key, each directory location is an indexed subkey beneath that. Seems pretty straight forward.
Doesn't work for 2018 though. Not entirely sure where those are recorded at this moment.

Why fight it? It only annoys you if you allow it and it does not affect the functioning of the program. Be more concerned about the other bugs that affect stability, speed of operation etc.
Those "program" files are really your files that you create in PSP. ie you create or make new Brushes , Gradients, Picture frames. They are your files and when you back up your documents folder then you will be backing up the files that you took time to add , create and which you probably would not want to lose if you deleted the program or transferred to another computer.
Most of the folders in that documents folder under PaintShop pro are actually empty after installation and gradually get filled as you add new Brushes etc.

Re: PSP file locations for tubes/frames/etc
Old post but - the reason I want do do the various additional tubes/etc in a simple and easy to access location is that I don't want to have to move and recreate the wheel with every install. Then my original question was how to make that first simple management tool simple to implement with a new version which I occasionally feel obliged to buy. Not "fighting" - just making it easier for myself. (optimally)

Then you can add and subtract folder all you please, but I think you will find that by default PSP puts its picture tubes in
C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro\2018\Picture Tubes
That's right: if you look in Documents you will find a program titled "Corel PaintShop Pro." (I got that directly from my own Documents directory.)
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

Re: PSP file locations for tubes/frames/etc
Things don't seem to be working with file locations in PSP 2023
Editing changes to file locations are not being saved. Delete a location, the next time PSP2023 is opened it is back.
Editing multiple file types, after a few types are edited (as few as 3) the program crashes completely and indeed nothing is saved.
Editing the registry directly in the usual places, or searching for all entries with the offending location, does not change the locations assigned to the file types.
I guess they must have changed the way file locations are stored, and (at least on my Thinkpad CarbonX1 g10) the system is broken...
Any thoughts for me?.... Levi's scripts did not work. Initially they seemed to run OK but after trying a few times with different tricks they "broke" and gave an error message that 'restriced scripts' cannot run (even though they are in 'trusted scripts' directory.

Re: PSP file locations for tubes/frames/etc
Which locations are you trying to remove? Not the default built-in ones right?
