PSP 2018 problem

Post by JudyM »

Has anyone else this problem?
In Edit mode
If I look at full screen preview and then hit "Escape" to return to my Edit screen, my workspace reverts to default and I have to reload my own.
Luckily I don't lose the images I'm working on.

Just tried it and nope. I have no issues with this. Or at least the things I change to test it don't reset to default.

I can verify that problem
Made a custom toolbar with most used adjustments on it. Left floating upper right of Edit workspace.
Saved the workspace.
Then did Control Shift A and viewed a loaded image full size. Pressed Esc to get back to Normal screen again and the custom toolbar had disappeared.
View > Toolbars and the custom toolbar still showed as ticked but not visible on the workspace.
Had to reload My workspace to get it back again.

Judy, in another thread, you mentioned having loaded your X9 workspace. This is the kind of issue you can experience.
NEVER load a workspace from a different version.

Thanks Cassel
The thought of re-doing all those customisations is daunting :(

I had saved the workspace as a 2018 workspace.
Should I start again?

If you saved the workspace that you made in X9 as a 2018 workspace (i.e., just save it in 2018) that does not change anything. It's still an X9 workspace. You have to create your workspace in 2018 and then save it.

And another question. Does this workspace you created (and will hopefully be re-creating in 2018) have a new, custom toolbar or was it coustomized by just adding and/or removing tools and commands from the toolbars that already exist with PSP?

This may not (but could) be the same issue the OP reported. You are speaking about losing a custom toolbar, by which I assume you mean you created a new toolbar and then populated it with commands. But do you also have some customizations done to toolbars that actually come with PSP as installed? And, if so, do you also lose those customizations?

I hadn't added any custom toolbars, just added/subtracted items and some bound scripts that I had created. On thinking back I suspect the workspace was originally created for maybe X7 - with various additions/subtractions :)

From X7 is even worse. Please remake a workspace in 2018 and see if the problem still exists.

I have just tried looking at preview full screen and then escape and back to PSP - problem seems to have resolved itself - search me :)
I'll leave my workspace for a while and see what happens.

Hi Joe,
Once again the OP left out some information , that they had moved an X7 workspace over to 2018.
I took her statement that an extra custom toolbar was created and that after viewing full screen it disappeared on returning to normal viewing.
My original description still stands except that I have now found that if I do View > Toolbars and untick the "Most Used" box and then retick it , the tool bar reappears again saving one from having to reload the workspace.

When I go to View>Toolbars I don't get a "Most Used" on the flyout. Does that only appear if you have custom created toolbars?

Sorry you must have missed what I meant. I create a custom toolbar and call it Most Used, As it implies I place my most used adjustment on it.

Most Used.jpg (14.21 KiB) Viewed 9483 times
I leave it on my workspace as shown:

As the OP mentioned about the workspace reverting to the default, I created this Custom Toolbar as a proof that I was using my customised workspace rather than a Default one that came with Corel.

It does not revert to the default workspace, just drops any extra Toolbars from view as I have previously mentioned.
The custom toolbar was still there and ticked but lost in the computer somewhere.

Yes, I was definitely confused. I thought you meant there was a Most Used option that allowed for the Most Used toolbar to be given some kind of preference, sort of like the Recent in plugins that shows the most recently used plugin.

What happens if you dock your custom toolbar? Does it still disappear or does it only disappear if it is floating?
