Support for EOS 6D Mark II

Post by RayC »

Glancing through posts, it looks like I won't actually get an official answer, but here goes anyway.

ASP 3 does not list the new Canon EOS 6D Mark II as a supported model. New sensor, so I suppose new RAW file. Are there plans for an update to add support for this, and if so, when?

I've been using Adobe CS6 - mostly because that is what they teach in the classes I've been taking. I'm not planning on going to the subscription model, and CS6 will not be updated any further. I can convert all my files to DNG first, but is an inconvenient step, and it doubles my storage requirements if I want to maintain my original .CR2 files. The new CC version has already added direct support. This would have been (and is) my decision point as to how I will move forward with my new camera. ASP was the next logical choice as I use a lot of Corel products. But no indication on if/when there will be support.

In lieu of an official "It'll be done by Monday" from the ASP team, any other alternatives I should be looking at? Canon DPP?

Thanks,
-Ray

Interestingly, looking at the AfterShot Pro product page, it now lists Canon EOS 6D Mark II as supported, even though the last patch is dated April 25, 2017. Does this mean that:
a.) the profile was included in April using advance information from Canon, and just wasn't listed on the product page until after the camera was released
b.) there are profile updates that are performed outside of official patches/updates
c.) there is a newer patch that is not listed in the "Patches & Updates" section
d.) this model is not actually supported and someone jumped the gun on the product page

I guess I can download the trial to see if it is supported. Does anyone know off-hand if it is?

DD_crash

I just upgraded to PSP 2018 that includes AfterShot (vanilla). Opening AfterShot, I could NOT see my RAW files. I was in the process of filling out a support request to blast Corel, when I stumbled up this:

http://learn.corel.com/aftershot-pro-downloads/

They have camera profiles that can be downloaded and installed via the File->Install Plugin... menu item. I can now load files from my Canon EOS 6D Mark II.

There is a profile there for the Canon 80D on the page. Give it a try.

Thank you very much It worked fine :) So ASP does support them after all. They really should do a patch to update ALL new camera models ASAP to prevent more bad press/reputation.

ASP rendering of Canon 6D Mark II cr2 file is terrible. The raw that is clear in Canon DPP appears full of noise in ASP. It is essentially unusable.
