Found an issue in MXF support: Tried to convert roundabout 10 mxf Files (length together 3 Minutes) of the same origin camera to export/render into another format (cineform avi/gorpro avi or mt2s in Full HD) as one big file. Started conversation but the rendering failed after 16 seconds without any error message. After checking the avi output I found that the rendering stopps exactly at the end of the first scene, at the end of the first single mxf file. In the timeline I had just added the mxf files without any transition or effect. I unchecked the smart rendering option (shouldn't have any effect cause I transformed the format) - without any effect as supposed.
The only way to convert the mxf files was to render every single file for itself - this way was successful. Maybe VS X10 suffers from different I Frames in the mxf arrangement on the timeline, when adding more than one mxf file?
The error occured only by using mxf, later I arranged the cineform avi files and got without any prob the complete timeline in one file.
The system itself: Win10 using the latest updates on an Intel I5 machine with 8GB Ram on 64 Bit with 1 TByte HDD.

Re: MXF support in VS X10 ULTIMATE
Hi childofman
Reading the Corel web site for Video Studio system requirements shows the supported formats, yet I do not see an entry for MFX.
But maybe VS is able to convert that format and not rendering to MFX
https://www.videostudiopro.com/en/produ ... quirements
As you have had problems rendering the MFX within the project I can only suggest you contact Corel Support to explain the problem.
As you were able to convert individual files, did you try using the Batch Converter via the File menu, could make conversion a little easier.

Re: MXF support in VS X10 ULTIMATE
Hello Trevor
first of all thanks for reading and answering my post. You're not right: Indeed VSx10 does NOT support mxf files but VSx10 ULTIMATE does. It is one of the Ultimate features. I' m in contact with technical support, but this is a very very specific problem and the one I've got e-mail contact with, is not specialized on it.
The mxf files are all Sony XAVC and has 4:2:2 colorscheme. The batch conversation: - No in that moment I'wasn't aware of it - you're right and thanks for that hint!
I realized that the support of mxf files is very tricky, cause wikipedia mention more than 6 different Sony XAVC types in mxf containers. VSx10 ULTIMATE supports only XAVC-S - information found on the Sony-XAVC site: http://www.xavc-info.org
But the videofiles whether XAVC or XAVC-S don't show what kind of they are - all of them are mxf in the file system. I think most of the VSx10 ULTIMATE users will never meet my specific problem, cause the file format is a high end codec and the necessary cameras are expensive.
My hope was that one of the members of the corel (Ulead) developer-team would read my post and that could give him an idea of what could maybe went wrong. For me it is not a real problem, cause I use another NLE for cinema production.
By the way I've tested what will happen, if I overlapp 2 mxf files of this kind in the timeline - before I just only arranged hard cuts: In the case of overlapping the same error happen. For example I'd arranged a 16 second mxf with a 4 second mxf with 12 frames overlapping/transition on timeline and tried to render it as new avi file to disc. The file I've got contained only the first clip of 16 seconds and no transition. VSx10 Ultimate message: sucessfull rendered - no error message. Maybe my notations are useful for some users with Sony equipment.

Re: MXF support in VS X10 ULTIMATE
Trevor -- if you look at the comparative chart published by Corel, you will see that "MXF (XAVC) Import" is shown only for X10 Ultimate and X9 Ultimate, and not for the Pro versions. See https://www.videostudiopro.com/en/produ ... e/#compare
I certainly recall the discussion about it being limited to XAVC-S when it appeared in X9, though the advertisements at the time clearly specified XAVC-S, and not just the more general XAVC which now seems to be being used, and causing confusion into the bargain. Unfortunately, I have no clips with the .mxf extension -- just a couple of XAVC-S files which use the .mp4 extension but are shown as "File Format: MPEG-4 File (XAVC)" just to further confuse the issue...

Re: MXF support in VS X10 ULTIMATE
Hi
Thanks Ken, I looked at the system requirements for X10 where supported formats are listed and there is an entry for MXF as input ( I missed that on my first look) but not for export, I guess its interpretation as to whether MXF is supported, certainly not fully supported, Maybe the next version will allow us to render to MXF
