Hi
Not that it helps if you are having crash problems.
I installed the trial version 2018 64 bit, I assume it was 64 bit?, since uninstalled.
No problems with crashes using HP Officejet 7510

I am having the same problem. This problem needs to be fixed. I did call HP about it and their stance is "Since all other programs are compatible with our drivers this is a Corel issue" I am having no other issues with my printer other than this crash problem with PSP. This happens with X9 and X8 as well. I agree with HP, Corel needs to fix the issue. Every year I send Corel money to buy the most recent version of their software they need to fix problems like this which crash their software.

Re: Paint Shop Pro 2018 crash with Print
I have been fighting to resolve this problem for 8 days now. I first experienced it when I installed my (new) HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-in-One printer. Until 8 days ago I had been printing (using the 64-bit version of PaintShopPro 2018 Ultimate) using my 1-year old Epson XP-820 printer. The only problem I had was that the print output was darker than the screen display on my HP DV8000 laptop. I was told by secondary support tech that my driver service had expired and would have to be renewed ($200 for one year). My solution: buy a new printer, hence the beginning of this saga. I decided on the aforementioned 6978. I have a long string of e-mail exchanges with Corel support, who appear to be totally unaware of this problem, in spite of the obvious complaints registered regarding the "Tab Control Failed to Initialize" error. Additionally, I spent hours on the phone with secondary support yesterday. Their tech re-traced all my previous trials and concluded that my 3-year old laptop needed updating. He offered me a plan for 2 years unlimited support for $300. His being the second opinion I opted to subscribe. My expenditure at this point...$413 (plus, of course the cost of the program). Since Corel has ostensibly been aware of, and oblivious to, this problem for many months, I am motivated to file a formal complaint, but the question is: "With Whom?". I have used, and upgraded, PSP versions for years, but am neareing the end of my loyalty to PSP and Corel. Shame on you, Corel!

Re: Paint Shop Pro 2018 crash with Print
I would have suggested ignoring PSP's printing issues and downloaded a trial of QImage. Great dedicated printing software.
PSP has some great features but if you are serious about printing then you need 'specialized' printing software.

Re: Paint Shop Pro 2018 crash with Print
So... here I am now on Dec 5 2017 and having thought the problem was resolved after my last message and numerous contacts with Corel support. Unfortunately, I'm back to square one where 64-bit printing still won't work, I'm still getting that "tab control failed to initialize" message. Really fed up. I'll definitely be looking for a replacement type of software in the new year. Too busy right now with the Christmas holidays and the numerous photos I'll be taking to be faring around with a non-functional software. I don't even want to go back to any of my previous versions of Corel. I'm done.Tenderfoot77 wrote:Never had a printing problem with any Corel products before PSP2018 64-bit. Did a lot of research with Corel tech to no avail. 32-bit version printing works fine. If problem is related to TWAIN driver(s), then it would explain my situation as I've just recently bought a new HP OfficeJet 7740 and it seems that's when my issues started. Other than contacting HP, I guess I'll use something else to print my 64-bit work.

Re: Paint Shop Pro 2018 crash with Print
For numerous reasons I never use PSP for any printing. Soft proofing being one. Color management another. I use QImage for all my printing. It's a specialised printing program that now has grow to include quite a few editing tools. Their forum is also very helpful.
I'm a strong believer in specialised tools. PSP is now trying to a one stop shop. Corel needs to step back and decide on where PSP will end up on its current path.

Re: Paint Shop Pro 2018 crash with Print
This problem doesn't seem unique to HP printers.
I have a Samsung C1810 and printing for me works 3 out of 5 times. Every now and then the printing dialog freezes. Especially after changing scale or another value and sometimes even after the printing dialog appears. Hitting ESC and closes the dialog after 20-30 seconds and I can try again. But I don't
More and more I revert to PSPX for all kind of tasks.
I don't think that this is a printer driver problem because I print in all kind of programs without any problems. Indesign, AI, all kind of offices and a lot of exotic programs.
Just another annoyance with PSP...

Re: Paint Shop Pro 2018 crash with Print
I had printing issues with PSPX9 after first installing it - HP, Brother, Samsung printer, didn't matter. Seemed to fix itself after a couple of patch updates. I am having the same issue with PSP 2018 on any printer I select. Patiently waiting for a fix. I use Serif Affinity Designer or Qimage to print in the meantime.
Re: Paint Shop Pro 2018 crash with Print
Just wanted to add my +1 on this issue. Just got Paint Shop Pro 2018 Ultimate and was printing fine to an HP 6250. Unfortunately, it died and was replaced with and HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 around Christmas. That's when the fun started for me. I haven't really done anything about except to research the message. New software and new printer drivers so everything's current.
Re: Paint Shop Pro 2018 crash with Print
I also have print problems with PSP 2018. When I hit print with 2018/64, I get the same (Tab Control Failed to Initialize) as everyone else. This failure occurs when utilizing either my HP 8720 or my Epson 3880. PSP 2018/32 prints just fine on both. I have PSP 8, and both 32 and 64 print just fine on both printers. I also have Photo Shop CS6, 32 and 64, both print just fine. I have MS Office 2016/64, and the 64 bit version of Publisher prints just fine. Therefore, I conclude Corel needs to produce a print engine upgrade to 2018/64. Yes, I can do a work around using Publisher to print. That is beside the point. Robert F. Oh! P. S. Yes Corel, I am thankful that your prices are a lot less than Photo Shop. I am thankful that you do not "RENT" your software like the new versions of Photo Shop or MS Office 365. Again, Corel, Thank you. Robert F
P. P. S. I have been using Paint Shop since it was attached to Windows 3.1 many years ago. When it left on its own, and when Corel took it over. And, I moved along with the new versions. So, I use and like Paint Shop Pro.

Re: Paint Shop Pro 2018 crash with Print
Hello
I have this problem from beginning January 2018 with my antique Jasc PSP 9.01. Everything was fine before.
Just in case I uninstalled and reinstalled several times, with no success. I tried various compatibility modes, no success.
I have two pop up messages, the one mentioned at the beginning of this post, followed by an "Unknown QuickPrint command error" once I close the scrambled printing command window. PSP doesn't crash after closing the pop up windows.
I wonder if this has something to do with a recent Windows update altering some printing functionality that has been buried in the guts of PSP for a long time.

Re: Paint Shop Pro 2018 crash with Print
All I can tell you is that there have been quite a few different complaints about different issues with PSP (crashing, freezing, slow starting, more reports of printer issues than before, etc.) that seem to have started manifesting themselves after one or two of the latest Windows 10 updates (the ones called Creators Updates).Alf wrote:Hello

Hi
I have the same "Tab Control Failed to Initialize" print issue on PSP 2018. My printer is a HPENVY 5020.
Anybody have any updates on a fix.

Re: Paint Shop Pro 2018 crash with Print
No updates on a fix, and the issue isn't universal. I note that some people report that they can't print with 64bit PSP 2018 but can with 32bit. I can print from both versions with no problems. Probably the biggest difference between my setup and those with issues is that my OS is Windows 8.1 while others seem to be using Windows 10.roslingk wrote:Hi
