Write protected after split by scene

Post by okyou »

Hello,

I used the 'split by the scene' feature to split a video into many small pieces and they all show up in my media library with the same name. But when I move a few pieces of the split video into the timeline and try to output these few pieces in the share tab, the video cannot be rendered and a prompt showing up "This file may be write protected". How can I use these split pieces as independent pieces ?

Thanks for your help

Hi

It is most likely that the save location ( File Location ) no longer exists

Click the open folder icon for browse and choose a folder to save your files to

Hello Trevor,
Thanks for your response. I a sorry I might not explain my issue as clear as it should. The problem is when I did a video split by scene, the video pieces will show up with the same name ( probably store by frame numbers and not have a saved location ) as shown in the attached pic. I can move to different VS library folders but my biggest problem is that I cannot render these splited pieces in the output share tab. Is there anyway I can render these pieces in the final output ?

Thanks for your help.

Hi

The split clips are simply virtual clips, a thumbnail representing the video section
click on each of your clips and view the white trim line below the preview screen, the bar shows the position of the clip within the full clip.

To create a separate video clip of the selection we have to first add the clips to the timeline

1 / with the clip selected go to File - Save Trimmed Video -- will render that single clip to a new clip saved to your working folder
2 / Share - using one of the options to render all to a new video file

Can you explain where you see the actual error

Can you provide a screen shot of when the error shows

I can assure you that "This file may be write protected". will show if the file location via share is not available.
It may of course show at other times that we are unaware of.
