Highlighting text

Post by Goaltender »

Help! I can no longer highlight a text selection to, for example, change the characteristics of a character! I am creating the text object as in a vector layer. I can put a box around the text selection and move it, I just can't select the text to correct a typo, for example.

You didn't mention which version of PSP you are using. Also, take a look at your layers palette and make sure you are actually on the text layer. And I've had times when the highlight doesn't show on the screen but the text is selected and I'm able to change font, color, etc.

sorry X9. You were correct. I created new text and was able to highlight as I had in the past UNTIL I used the pick tool to move the text to a different location on the image. Once I clicked the pick tool, I lost the ability to highlight that piece of text. I can create NEW text and highlight that, but not the original text.

Okay, I just opened X9 and tried your scenario and yes, it's wonky. I tried the same thing in PSP 2018 and the highlighting works just fine. I don't know how often you move text around or if you are in the market for an upgrade. If you don't move and change text a lot this may just be a minor irritation. If you do this a lot and are thinking of upgrading you could always download a free trial to see if 2018 meets your needs.

Have you tried moving the text using the Move tool rather than the Pick tool?

I don't know about the OP but in my testing X9 was inconsistent (wonky). Sometimes it highlighted and other times it didn't. I tested moving the text with the pick tool; the move tool and the text tool itself. Once you accept the text you get the move cross-hairs on the text tool.

Solution.
I made some text applied it . Then Moved it with the pick tool
Made some more text and moved it.
Finished with Background , Vector 2, Vector 1-
To get access to highlighting either text you can Double click the text you want to get the cursor applying to that text
OR in your layers palette there is a white arrow beside your Vector layers. Click it to open uo that vector and show your layes labelled with the text on them double click either of them and you will have access to highlighting either text.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

Isn't that the same as in the last version - X9?
