That can be done with scripts. A trusted script can run other programs on your computer. Then bind the script and put it in the menu. I actually did this once to open the local PDF of the help files.

Re: Wishlist for Paint Shop Pro 2019
Maybe a change has to be made. But first, just to be clear, are you saying you haven't seen the PSP Scripting link at the top of the Paint Shop Pro forum main page? I note you have well over 100 posts so it's obvious that you aren't new to visiting the forum. So I am curious as to how you might not have seen that link.Rick_R wrote:I was aware of the User Forums, but I didn't realize there is a separate scripting sub-forum where people can upload scripts. I would suggest two separate links, under Help: User Forums and Scripting.JoeB wrote:< snip >it might simply be easier for Corel to add a link under their Resources tab named User to User Forum and perhaps, under that, a link to Scripts/Scripting info Sub-forum. < snip >Rick_R wrote:AN ON-LINE USER "SCRIPTORIUM"
This would be similar to various products where users can upload their user-created scripts for others to download.

1. Focus Stacking.
2. Copy the adjustable highlights from the Adjust tab to the Edit tab.
3. Make what PSP considers a highlight to be adjustable, so we can reduce some darker things if we want.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by this. However, you don't need to use the Adjust tab to access the one-click special effects and apply them to an image. You can simply open the image into the Edit workspace then go to Palettes>Instant Effects, which will open a palette with all of the same one-click adjustments that are available in the Adjust workspace. Then you can duplicate your existing image layer if you want and apply the effect to that duplicate layer (so as to keep the original layer as is in case you want it for further use). Then, as per your third point, you have all of the various tools available in the Edit workspace to fine tune the effect you applied - e.g., lighten, darken, apply histogram, curves, tweak colors - virtually anything you want to do that will tweak the instant effect to your liking.ehume wrote: 2. Nope. In the Adjustments tab there is a section on the left for adjusting various lightness/darkness levels.JoeB wrote:I'm not quite sure what you mean by this. In the Edit tab there is an Adjust Levels section, which comes close but is not simple. Compare with the DxO feature.

I. like Joe also am not sure what ehume means by adjustable highlights from the Adjust tab. I am also guessing that Corel guys would not know what you mean also . You need to give steps , and perhaps show with cropped screenshot what you mean.
Joe has taken you to mean the Instant Effects.
In my case the only highlight controls that I can see in the Adjust tab are those in the Smart Photo Fix. But note that when you switch from Edit to Adjust you initially get a warning that :
If you want to edit the current image in the Adjust tab, save your edits, select the imagein the Organiser palette , and thenclick the Adjust tab.
(But most importantly is the statement)
Note: The tools in the Adjust tab are available in the Edit Tab.
The tools in Adjust include Crop, Straighten, Red Eye Tool, Makeover Tool, Clone Brush. All these are available in the Edit Tab.
The sub-sections down left side show:
Depth Selection - had trouble deciphering what this was about, but found that it uses XDM metadata from some cameras to allow a selection based on focus. This does not seem to be available in the Edit Mode.
Smart Photo Fix - which is similar to Smart Photofix in Edit Mode : Enhance Photo >Smart Photo Fix
A comparison of screen shots showing the Adjust version v the Edit version - I rather like the Adjust version better - the larger images in the Edit mode version and small sliders make it seem clunky. These others
White Balance
Brightness/Contrast
Fill Light/Clarity
Vibrancy
Local Tone Mapping
High Pass Sharpen
Digital Noise Removal
are all found in Edit Mode.
If you are wanting to control Shadow , Mid Tones and Highlights separately then you can use Adjust > Brightness and Contrast > Highlight/Midtone/Shadow. I have set up a customized special toolbar which has the 7 most common tools that I use which are usually a couple of menus deep or require a keyboard shortcut (hate using keyboard shortcuts as I have to look at the keyboard and it interrupts my screen continuity):
They are Levels, Brightness/Contrast, Red/Green/Blue, Hue/Saturation/Lightness, High/Mid/Shadow, Unsharp Mask , Select None
The reason for the Select None is that sometimes inadvertently a tool may not seem to work because a small selection has beeen made so a quick click of that eliminates that problem.

Re: Wishlist for Paint Shop Pro 2019
@hartpaul: forgive me for not quoting your post, but it was delightfully large. Thank you for pointing out the adjustments available in the Smart Fix section. I usually avoid smart fixes because they do not do what I want. I see now that that was a mistake.
The sliders you identified in the Adjustment tab are just what I use. Now I can use the slider in the Enhance Photo tab.
Adjustable highlights would apply to the scope of the adjustments. To adjust highlights means to adjust the slider that affects the brightness band known as 'highlights.' I would like to adjust the brightness band, to adjust what it means for an aspect to be a highlight; to narrow the definition sometimes, to broaden it other times.
Related to that, it is time for Corel to give us a dehaze function. Many competitors have one.

It's been years since I've even looked at the Adjust tab, but my beef with it, and why I never used it, was that you could never go back with the adjustments, no control. Edit may require more thought and slightly more steps but I can get back to a previous point in the adjustments.

Maybe. But if you make a number of changes, white balance, exposure, sharpening, etc., then want to put white balance to where you started you can't just undo the change you had made.ehume wrote:Ctrl-Z to go back?MarkZ wrote:It's been years since I've even looked at the Adjust tab, but my beef with it, and why I never used it, was that you could never go back with the adjustments, no control. In Edit mode with the history palette it's possible to undo everything up to White balance with a single click, apply white balance again, and then redo the rest of the steps in a single step. Closing without saving makes you redo everything.
