x10 Is Not Utilizing My Ram

Post by ph2gaming »

I've been having issues with playback while using x10 so I ran a system monitoring tool while I was editing and discovered that VSx10 wasn't touching my RAM at all. Only the base line system RAM usage (around 550mb) is being utilized while I'm using the program, either editing or rendering. I have 32gb available. Is there some way to turn on RAM utilization that I'm over looking?

As you can see in the attached pic that was snipped during rendering, I'm getting close to 100% CPU utilization and essential no RAM utilization from VSx10 (on the RAM usage graph the jump above 550mb is what the snipping tool used to load). The RAM graph looks identical during editing.

I've no idea about the monitoring tool that you're using but try Task Manager on Windows and you'll see resource utilization.

Thanks for the reply. This is MSI Afterburner, it does the same thing as Task Manager but gives more options like GPU utilization and GPU/CPU temperature as well a few other awesome options for monitoring PC hardware. I'll check task manager just in case VS is somehow confusing Afterburner.

Are the stats you listed during editing or while idle?

I think I may have found out what the issue was, I still had x7 installed. As soon as I uninstalled x7 the playback was perfect, even with scrubbing I'm not dropping frames. The ram utilization still hasn't changed but that's fine because its working fine now. There is a discrepancy between Afterburner and what Task Manager is showing but even during rendering I still haven't exceeded 800mb of ram utilization for a 1080p project. I guess it just runs more efficiently than I assumed it would.

Actually it seems to be clip size that's causing my issue. If the clips are longer than 5-6mins then the entire project gets lagged down significantly. Ill start a new thread addressing that.
