No Audio on Export

Post by Leon2012 »

The video I'm capturing is game play video. I'm recording with Acion! Mirillis in AVI format. When I play the original recorded video in Windows Media Player I have both video and audio. After I cut out some of the footage, I render it in AVI format and when I play that video in Windows Media Player it has video but NO audio. I even checked the video's properties and the original video shows this under the Audio section:

Bit rate: 6144kbps
Channels: 8
Audio sample rate: 48 kHz

The rendered video doesn't show any audio information.

The settings I'm using to render the video are as follows:

Microsoft AVI files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 30 FPS
Frame-based
Uncompressed
PCM, 48.000 kHz, 16 bits, 5.1 Channels

I have tried some other PCM audio options but they have the same failed result.

I didn't used to have this issue. This started happening about 1 week ago and I've reinstalled the program since then.

Hi

Acion! Mirillis?

Sorry never heard of it.

Does it record audio in stereo (2 channel)?

Try that.

Why 8 channel (7.1???)

Why 5.1 in VS when you know it is recoeded in 8 Channel?

Try lining up input and output - it may help.

Action! Mirillis allows me to choose what device I record with which I'm using my wireless headset: Corsair Gaming VOID Wireless Gaming Headset and it has 7.1 surround sound. As far as recording options I can choose the bit rate of which I have tried recording at 512kbps and 320kbps but regardless the video that is produced after recording has audio.

The reason I haven't chosen 7.1 when rendering is VS doesn't have that as an option. I've tried rendering in 48kHz, 16 bits, 5.1 channels as well as 48kHz, 16 bits, Stereo and they had the same results. I also tried rendering the audio in DV Audio format and it didn't work either.

Another issue I'm having is when I try to render in mp4 it only gets a few percent complete and then it just stops. It doesn't produce an error message, stop the program or notify me in any way. I've also tried installing K-Lite codecs and I'm having the same results.

Something I don't understand is that I didn't used to have these problems. I've used this software for about 2 months now and I've rendered in AVI as well as MP4 and had video and audio working properly. I haven't changed anything prior to these issues occurring.

Hi Leon

Two approaches spring to mind in trying to solve your problem:

1 Figure out what has changed in your setup/system from when it all worked before and now does not.

2 Try finding a work around, starting where you are now.

I'll leave you to give some thought to #1, there must be differences in either output parameters or system etc (updates to OS?).

Does Action! Mirillis allow you to output the AVI file using stereo (2 channel)? If so, try outputting that and use in VS.

Would NOT recommend istalling codec packs, I know some authorities are relaxed about it, but for me it is a no-no.

Try simplifying everything to start with. Can you demux the output, making a WAV sound file from Action! Mirillis? Does that work in VS, Audacity or any other wave editor such as Nero?

If possible, upload an original output file from Action! Mirillis that gives problems after processing in VS so that the community members can analize and try themselves.

Hi

Try Share – Same as first Clip –options top left of share panel, place a tick in the box to activate this option.
Are you able to use Same as first Clip?

That will render your project using the original properties of your video.

MrJohnny,

Windows updates quite often, unfortunately I won't be able to track down my most recent updates as I upgraded to a new motherboard recently and reinstalled windows. Just to note I was having this issue with my old motherboard before I changed it out.
As for what Action will let me choose for audio options I can change the output format between WAV and MP4 Audio (I've tried both). I can choose whether or not to allow multi-channel audio recording and record silence of which both are checked. I'll try unchecking Multi-channel audio recording and see what happens.
Other audio settings I have are to record system sounds, which I have checked. I can choose my audio device, I currently have my headset selected but I've also set it to system default and had the same result. Under AAC I can choose the bitrate which I currently have 320 kbps selected and I've also recorded with 512 kbps before.

lata,

That option is not available for me to select. If I recall correctly before I had this issue it used to be available. However, VS use to ask me if I wanted to change my project properties to match my video properties when I would import my video into the project and now, for some reason, it no longer does this.

The resulting video had audio in 2 channels but unfortunately there was no video between the Movies & TV program and Windows Media Player.

If you were to edit the video before then I suspect your files are different, do you have access to one of your earlier videos.

The show messages will work for compliant video files, those that can set the project properties to match.
Some formats do not work, WMV for example. But any video with unusual settings.
The other reason is that the properties are already set to match, I doubt that?

If you are not seeing the messages then probably Same as First Clip will be unavailable, and that indicates again the video is non standard.

Maybe the settings used to record the video

But if you do have access to the older videos that worked would help in comparing your properties.

From what I can tell it's due to me not setting my recording settings correctly. I had my in-game resolution set to 3840 x 2160 and my recorder was set to record in 1920 x 1080. Once I matched my in-game resolution to my recorder the audio and video exported correctly.
