Re: PSP X9 crashes when trying to create a new image
I've had this problem before and lost hours of work.
Be warned that any file you saved after the "crash" may have saved with an error causing the file to not open. Check your work before progressing on projects.

Re: PSP X9 crashes when trying to create a new image
My 2018 crashes too now. I think the changing of the IPP file might not work for me after all.
Means reinstalling X9 and 2018. Ah well...serves me right for messing with files.

Re: PSP X9 crashes when trying to create a new image
After yesterday's sudden correction of the problem, I received a note from Corel support telling me that I should use the Shift key while clicking the New Image button to get around the error. After I informed them that I was aware of this temporary 'fix' and that Corel had already corrected the issue, I received another message saying that they were closing my issue as 'corrected'. I now have a message in my inbox asking me to rate the support I received... really??
I've sent a query to them, asking what caused the problem, but as yet haven't recceived a response.

Re: PSP X9 crashes when trying to create a new image
About the IPP.cfg file...I removed PSP 2018 and reinstalled with both the 32-bit and the 64-bit this time. A new IPP.cfg file is created, of course. Then checked the files for both X7 and X9 and both were restored to the original files pointing to corel and the corelstore.
Still no joy with creating a new image in X9, though.

Re: PSP X9 crashes when trying to create a new image
Okay, modifying the IPP.cfg file didn't help for most. So forget it...
Strange that it worked for me.
A possible explanation might be that changing/deleting etc. requires admin rights on my machine, which the normal user PSP runs under, does not have. The file is never restored and remains the same.
What I think was going on:
In PSP there is some advertising for IPP (= In product purchasing). The data PSP received from the Corel server at www.corelstore.com was corrupted. If you blocked receiving data, or you took care PSP couldn't reach www.corelstore.com anymore, the problem was gone.
The problem now seems to be solved and I think this is because Corel is not sending any corrupted data anymore.
But why the hell are you not allowed to create a file, if the data received from the server can not be processed? Some security measure? So if it receives data and it cannot process it, it prevents the user from creating a new file? Weird. And if it can't receive data at all, there is no issue, because it this simply could be caused by a user no having an internet connection. Is that it?
It would behoove Corel if they would give a explanation of what was wrong. Wishful thinking I'm afraid.

Re: PSP X9 crashes when trying to create a new image
Funny how things go....!!! The problem was with Corel and cleared up in regional stages. Chat did go on my computer, proving that it was not me nor Microsoft. They did not read the forum... they did pass on ideas that I mentioned from forum suggestions like using the shift key then clicking on "new". It was okay to go on my computer to rule out windows compatibility and yet the forum discussions clearly showed by the volume of like problems; that it was Corel itself that was causing the problem. That problem for me cleared up like a 24 hour flu! Then I received an email from the case that I had set up and he seemed clueless to the forum or was not willing to admit that Corel was the culprit...
So I wrote back that tech support should join in on the forum, could serve to avoid a lot of useless back and forth. Nice work forum. But Corel put their popups ahead of their customers and they should stay more in tune (or on the same page if you wish) with the customer whose computer should be innocent until proven guilty, LOL..

And when you say Banner Ad, are you referring to the splash screen? That can be turned off in Preferences.traywolf wrote:Ditto: Same problem. Previously suggested solutions did not resolved. I don't think this was caused by a Microsoft Patch, since I still have some pending. I suspect this has to do with the banner-advertisment for Corel X10 that shows when you first launch the program.
Yes, it is still the X9 series. and yes, it was the splash screen.
Funny, I checked today and it is now working, with no changes on my part. No clue what changed.
Re: PSP X9 crashes when trying to create a new image
Mr. JoeB: So I made it to the bottom of this thread and it appears I was right; it was the advertisement. No longer having a problem. Thanks for moderating the comments. Appreciate your good work.JoeB wrote:X9 was the last in the X series. Are you referring to PSP2018, which is version 20? If so, not everyone with the issue with X9 has installed 2018. Re: PSP X9 crashes when trying to create a new image
Hi all, sorry to drag this up again. Since today I cannot save my work in PSP X9. I am trying to save a PSPIMAGE file from the save as in the drop down but PSP crashes every time. Was fine yesterday but nothing today......and as a bonus the autosave didn't work either. Tried all the tricks here, renamed files, added firewalls, disabled task schedules but now totally stumped

Re: PSP X9 crashes when trying to create a new image
Has Corel solved the problem with PSP 2019 crashing when creating/opening a "new" file?Ken Berry wrote:This is just an interim post. As noted above, I drew the attention of Corel's development team. They have now gotten back to me, saying they are able to replicate this "serious crash". They are now working on a solution and will get back to me when they have it.
The only "work-around" that I have found (posted somewhere in this forum) that works is to hold down the "Shift" key while clicking on "New"
