is PSP X6 compatible with Windows 7 Professional?

Post by zhunter71 »

I have just upgraded my PC from Windows 7 Home to Windows 7 Professional (so i can add more RAM), its on SP1 and i had X6 installed , working fine.

But after the upgrade it stopped working, and locked on a plain white screen on opening.

So i removed it and reinstalled it, it seemed to install with no errors, but when i tried to open it , it locked on the same plain white screen as before, screenshot attached

The icon is on the tray at the bottom, when you hover your mouse over it, you see the small white screen, but thats it, you click on it, nothing happens :(

Anyone else come across this? Is version X6 not compatible with Win 7 Professional? (oh, its the 64-bit version too)

When you removed X6 to reinstall it did you use the Cleanup tool available in the sticky near the top of the forum to do the uninstall? If not, get that tool, do another uninstall, reboot, and then reinstall and see if that works.

That white screen looks a little like a request to register PSP X6 with Corel but with an incomplete dialog box. You may need to be sure that your internet is connected .

Corel created the cleanup tools to make sure that some registry entries that are often not removed by Uninstall Programs will be removed cleanly.

To answer your question, yes, PSPX6 is compatible with Windows 7 Professional. I just fired up the 32-bit and 64-bit versions on my Windows 7 Professional PC.

System requirements can be found here https://www.corel.com/static/corel/wp-c ... _guide.pdf
PSPX9 | PSP2020 | PSP2021| PSP2022 | PSP2023 & PhotoMirage installed; PSPX | PSPX2 thru PSP2019 owned but not installed

i've tried total uninstall, and reinstalling it, running as admin, turning off the firewall, turning off anti virus software and still it just freezes on this white screen, is there nothing else i can try? I have X8 installed but prefer X6 so would rather get that working again if i could :(

This may sound silly if you don't use Internet Explorer, but it usually works, regardless of the internet browser you use. You have to go to Control Panel > Internet Options and choose the Advanced tab. Down at the bottom you will see a Reset button with the words "Resets Internet Explorer's settings to their default condition". Click that button. Then try reopening PSP.

Find Advanced, but not the IE setting, but uninstalled IE a while ago.

Your removal of IE has indeed probably changed things. FWIW, this is what I get. I never use IE but had your problem a couple of times before, and Reset IE fixed it...

Thanks for the screengrab, Ken! Makes it so much easier!
I have to translate everthing into English, as I have a Dutch version of Windows/PSP etc.
But the screengrab made it a lot clearer.
The Scriptdebugging for IE is gone, but I ticked the box for "Other"
Same difference, though. But worth a try.

Just can't install the software bundle.
Install as Administrator/Firewall + anti-virus disabled
Tried it with as well. Makes no difference.

With Painter 5 i get this (screengrab in two parts)
ZV_fault2.JPG
ZV_fault.JPG
ZV_fault.JPG (15.31 KiB) Viewed 5560 times
Using Windows 10 and should have had IE 11?

For creative content, I get this one
ZV_fault3.JPG
ZV_fault3.JPG (21.31 KiB) Viewed 5560 times
And Perfectly Clear won't install.

Wrote to Corel support, but got a standard message where it wants you to download a third party piece of software WinAudit as well as an in-depth report created by Windows itself.
One of my member who had the "New Image" bug in X9, received the exact same mail.
Haven't done it and won't.

Do you have any suggestions as to what the errormessages referr to?

I have both 32-bit and 64- bit installed.
That went fine.
Aftershot 3 installed sweet as a nut.

I'm totally off-topic here. I am sorry.
