"This is not a valid Paint Shop Pro Image file" help
I have Paint Shop Pro 8. My computer was Windows 7, but the hard drive failed. So I got a new hard drive and they loaded Windows 10. I reloaded PSP 8 and downloaded all of my files. The jpg and bmp files open with no problem, but the pspimage files don't open and I get the "This is not a valid Paint Shop Pro Image file". I can't resave it under something else since it won't open. Could this be because I am using Windows 10? The PSP8 opens no problem. Also, when I create a new pspimage file and save it. It opens and works fine. Any help would be appreciated.

Download a trial version of whatever PSP you can get and load your PSP files into that, then resave them but in the options save them as PSP 8 compatible and see if that works.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

Or you could send a little pspimage file here, so we can test...hartpaul wrote:Download a trial version of whatever PSP you can get and load your PSP files into that, then resave them but in the options save them as PSP 8 compatible and see if that works.

Re: "This is not a valid Paint Shop Pro Image file" help
I downloaded PSP X9 and it opened the files. I tried doing a "Save As" and then reopen in PSP 8....Still not reading it. Might just upgrade...Saw it for $49.
Quick PSP X9 question. I have two small photos that I want to put on a new plain background, but everytime I open a new image..it makes a new tab. How do I put the two images onto the background? In PSP 8...It would all open on the same page and I could just drag it over. Thanks!

Dragging over is still possible with tabs, But what you're talking about is opening the images in their own individual window. To do this simply turn off tabbed documents in the Windows menu.

Can you please confirm that when you opened Save As you then clicked on the Options button on that dialogue box, and scrolled down to "PSP 8 compatible file"? Otherwise you would just be resaving it as an X9 file.zipbags wrote:I downloaded PSP X9 and it opened the files. I tried doing a "Save As" and then reopen in PSP 8....Still not reading it.
