Advertising PSP 2018

Post by Ken Berry »

I realise people are already buying 2018 and see that some people at least are receiving messages advertising 2018 when they open or close earlier versions. (FWIW I have not received any such message, and I have opened X9 and left it open for quite some time.)

But when I look at Corel.com or http://www.paintshoppro.com/en/ all I see advertised is PSP X9. Indeed, this post now was sparked when my morning on-line newspaper here in New Zealand today, carried ads on just about every page for X9! This is obviously only going to cause headaches if people buy X9 because of those ads and find out that 2018 is already available elsewhere. I realise Corel would probably then give them 2018, but it is a needless extra hurdle.

So are people seeing ads for 2018 anywhere, apart from the messages received when opening/closing earlier versions?

Perhaps you've somehow turned off notices. Got the first notice on August 1 on my X9 machine ... this machine at work has X6 but has notices turned off.
Still learning, but here are a few of my favorite shots: https://www.500px.com/ccjr221

Thanks Dijenga I'm not worried personally about getting an offer as I already have 2018 installed. But as a mod on this forum we often get a lot of complaints from people who have bought a version, only to find a new version has been released within a very short time of their purchase. So I am wondering whether people are seeing any other advertising apart from the messages when opening/closing an earlier version. Certainly the relevant Corel websites are not yet advertising 2018...

I have not so far received an email, I had a popup over in the notifications area once, while I was doing something else and when I was about to click on it it disappeared.
I then clicked on Help > Messages and there was a message in there for PSP 2018 which I was able to click and then get the program which installed OK in Win 10 in a bit over 16 minutes.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

I also received the email and the offer was good. € 55 for PSP 2018 Ultimate, where they offer X9 Ultimate for the same price if you buy it as an upgrade and € 69 if you buy the full version.
Turns out the bundle is a lot of nothing. Can't get most of it installed, but I think the money is well spend for the improvements in 2018.

UPDATE: the mail anouncing PSP 2018 for loyal customers only, stated that PSP 2018 would be in the shops (in The Netherlands and Belgium, I assume) on 7th August.
I haven't been to check, but they are still advertising PSP X9 and there is no trial for 2018.
Yet I've seen it advertised somewhere inside PSP 2018, but it's gone now, after I unchecked everything in "Manage your message preferences".

It might be in Dutch, but I'm sure it's easy to work out in English. Just untick everything

Nieuwsbrieven = Newsletters
Marktonderzoek = Marketing
Privacy-instellingen - Privacy settings.

The last option is "Cancel subscription to messages from Corel (I do not want to receive any message from Corel)
Bijwerken = Adjust/Save

You don't need Corel to let you know when there are updates. Just go to the Corel site and look at the bottom for Patches and Updates
