VS x10 Ult FREEZES when using video from Google Pixel 120fps

Another day. Just rebooted the computer and opened X10. This computer has dual graphics -- an on-board Intel and an NVidia GeForce 710A. The Intel is the default. So this time I opted to use the NVidia graphics card. But it didn't change anything. X10 immediately froze when I tried to open the video.

And yes, my X10 is fully updated version X10.1.0.14 and yes, I have the QT codec installed.

But get this! I just started up a secondary computer, running Win 10 Pro and which has a single NVidia GeForce GT 330 graphics card. And on this machine I had no trouble inserting the video, getting the message about matching project properties, and playing the clip! So now I am even more stumped!!

I wonder if the audio is where the problem lies. When I play this clip, my dogs go crazy with the weird sounds (not that my dogs' reactions should matter to VS

Another hint? Mediainfo gives this 'Unknown kind of value!' in the file

The video is in SloMo, as is the audio.
Use Speed Timelapse to increase the speed to 400% , that should be normal speed, playback in Project mode.

As the problem seems to be associated with the graphics drivers I deselected the Hardware Acceleration options from Preferences – Performance.

I was then able to add the video to the timeline without freezing the program.

Guys are you able to replicate that?

I unticked all 4 , rerun 19.2 ..... no problemo.

Yes! Unticking all the hardware options allowed the file to be inserted and it worked. We have found the culprit. Now we need the original poster to try this. Nice job Trevor...

EDIT: It appears that only the "Enable Hardware Decoder Acceleration" needs to be off (no tick mark)

Not so fast, I have a Panasonic TZ70 that records to 120fps - 1280 x 720 I have used this feature in the past with no problems, probably X8 as I can use that version now without problems.

Using X9 and X10 with Hardware disabled the program freezes (stops working error) whilst playing in project mode.
As you are aware I did not have any problems with the original posters video.

It appears to be yet another problem for X9 and X10 that earlier versions did not have

More tests shows X8, X9 and X10 suffering when playing these video files.

Use X7 and things seem ok.

With just Enable Hardware Decoder Acceleration unticked, I could play the clip in both Clip and Project modes. Reticking that box while the clip was in the timeline immediately froze X10 again.

EDIT: (much later) I checked with my other computer -- the one which happily accepted the clip yesterday. All of the hardware acceleration options were ticked including Enable Hardware Decoder Acceleration. Yet it still worked...

The OP video clip plays OK in both clip & project mode with and without the hardware acceleration (and all combinations of Enable Hardware... choices) on my system given on the right, all with Enable Smart Proxy ticked in both X9 & X10.

Similarly with my wife's Sony Vaio, T4300 @ 2.1GHz, but much, much slower, especially clip mode.

Trevor could you make a clip recorded from your Panasonic TZ70 camera available to test - interesting that your setup plays the OP clip but does not play your Panasonic clip.

on board software converts that to 25fps (Pal camera) to playback in Slow Mo

Interestingly I have not had any problems from Slo-Mo using my HC-V750, I just treat it as a standard MP4 clip.

As you can see from the posts we are getting mixes results?
