Will upgrading to 10 give me better Chroma keys?

Post by MikesMovies »

Hello

I have been using Video Studio Ultimate X8 for some time now and get on well with it.
I have not explored the abilities of Mercalli etc so far.
Every time I close it I get an offer to upgrade to X10.
I do use the Chroma key elements a lot within X8 and wondered if anyone could tell me if X10 are a significant improvement on X8?
Great believer in ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ but I would like better Chroma options.
Kind regards from Mike in Sussex UK

Last I used Chroma key was earlier than X10, it may have even been X8. It worked well for the project I did. I have not read anything about improvements with Chroma key features. If you have the time, you could try a Trial and check it out, or even buy it and get a refund after testing it if you are not satisfied with X10.

If you have X8 Ultimate, then one of the New Blue packages (Essentials II) has a Chroma filter which is more sophisticated than the native Corel one. But like most of the NB filters, there is a learning curve. But it might give you what you are after without updating to X10. In any case, X10 gives you exactly the same Chroma filters (NB and Corel) that you get in X8.

Many thanks, yes that makes sense. I use the NB one as well.
Will need to look into splines etc that Mercalli offers as this would help me a lot, I just find it very hard going trying to learn.
