Blu-ray for VS10
Having previously purchased the Blu-ray feature in version VS9 am I now required to re-purchase it for VS10 or can I somehow import this feature across from the earlier editing software?
It seems incredible that I may have to buy this "extra" every time Corel updates the software so perhaps I am missing something?

Re: Blu-ray for VS10
Hi Skipper
I do not know what policy Corel have adopted for that plugin, I had thought that X9 purchases included the Bluray provided we had purchased the earlier X8 version.
I would suggest you contact Corel support, try the Chat line, that seemed to work well.
Let us know the outcome please…..
Your only other option is to keep X9 installed, I do not know of a way in transferring the X9 to X10.
I assume you are referring to the main program and not MYDVD, as far as o know MYDVD has problems burning AVCHD and Bluray?

Ummm... If you go to VS X10 Help, then you will see one of the entries is "Restore purchase". Click that and follow the prompts and you should not need to pay anything.

Re: Blu-ray for VS10
Well Guys, the battle seems yet to be fought with Corel
They have "sold" me yet another "licence" to use the Blu-ray plug in - that makes three for me now (and I am only one user)
Yet it is the same plugin, just tagged specific to the version of VS so one cannot transfer across each time you update VS
I did try to ask Corel customer support how to make this transfer across to the new updated VS but they totally ignored my question
This is a small cost but a principle here - we already have paid for a licence on our specific computer to use Blu-ray within Corel Video Studio
Just because Corel update their software each year they are making this grab for extra cash on the way through, yet there is no change to the Blu-ray plug in
Different if Blu-ray was keeping up with the times format wise but there seems no interest for them to do so and now people find work-arounds to avoid using the outdated software
I note one thread involving Ken wherein you use other devices to show 1920 x 1080P 50 video and I have been trying to make this work for me as I still have not seen my 50fps video in all it's glory on my high spec TV
Contact with Corel was fruitless, first point of contact did not even understand English and kept going around in circles till I asked her to forward my email to a "higher authority"
Not sure if the new respondent had more authority but he said they were following Corel protocols but when next I wanted to purchase VS X? + Blu-ray I should reply to him with ticket number XXX and he would ensure I received the best price
I had pointed out the un-ethical nature of re-selling the same licence year on year when the product had not changed yet "if" I continued to use the old version of VS, the licence would be valid indefinitely
Personally, I like the VS product and it is reasonable value for money but I may settle for less frequent updates in future and find an acceptable work around to playback my high definition video since Blu-ray does not cater for my frame speed
Instead, when rendering the files, it converts them to 25fps which is very disappointing.
Perhaps if others were to campaign for a change within Corel we might get change -I cannot believe that this licence fee is being extracted legitimately and passed on to whomever owns the Blu-ray copyrights?

Is that why you have posted the same report 3 times
But as Ken has stated above, there should be no need to purchase an additional licence, just go to "Restore Purchase" or is that not working for you

Re: Blu-ray for VS10
Hi Robert
For some reason my link to the forum is hanging badly today and I received no indication the message had been sent - feel free to delete the additional copies - I know not how
As for the restore purchases, it did not work for me, and I have since read that each Blu-ray licence is tagged specific to the version of VS it was purchased with?
(And I promise I will only click Submit once this time and leave the outcome in the lap of the internet Gods)

It's strange that it didn't work for you when it worked for me and quite a few others here. Did you get any error message when you click on that link in the menu?

Re: Blu-ray for VS10
I don't remember the exact detail now but it would not respond so I tried a message to Corel Customer Support and they never even bothered to answer (perhaps they never got my message either?)
However, more recent correspondence with Corel Customer Support has been useless in resolving my questions with some girl who clearly has a poor handle on English trying to answer and just going in circles
Finally got someone else on the job and even they failed to explain that I could have just used the "restore purchase" and stated that they were following Corel protocols, further that for future purchases, to use the ticket thus created and they would give me the best price - whatever that means?
Do any of their Customer Support people speak English as a first language? It seems to me their answers are always polite but they never answer questions directly and one is left wondering if they even understood what one is trying to say
I guess I should have come back to you Ken when it didn't work - my fault and it cost me another $10

Re: Blu-ray for VS10
For anyone else who has this problem, when you go to Help > Restore Purchase, when you click it you should get a small box in the centre of screen which remains blank for a couple of seconds (so be patient!
) Then words should appear asking you to enter the email you used when you made the purchase for the earlier version. When you enter that, you then press the Continue button at the bottom of the box. Then you follow the prompts.

Re: Blu-ray for VS10
Your TV should support a few formats, MPG, m2t, (mta-m2ts) Mpeg4 I assume you have rendered the video to m2tSkipper wrote:I note one thread involving Ken wherein you use other devices to show 1920 x 1080P 50 video and I have been trying to make this work for me as I still have not seen my 50fps video in all it's glory on my high spec TV
I have a few 50P video that play on my TV via media sharing over home network, but can save to usb, although I have to plugin to my BD player as TV does not have USB.
Other TV's may have a SD slot.
MPEG Transport-Stream Files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 50 fps
Frame-based
(HDMV-PAL), 16:9
H.264 Video
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 26000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 384 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 3/2(L,C,R,SL,SR)
I did have some issues with those being recognised by my player when using USB,
Renaming the file to use MPG extension allowed the player to recognise the file which then played ok.
Your TV may support Mpeg4, so you may need to convert to that, but you would need to create your own Mpeg4 template.
Try different formats using short samples.

Re: Blu-ray for VS10
Thanks Trevor - I think?
My recent purchase of an LG OLED 55inch TV capable of 4K viewing prompted me to see if I could actually use the potential of my video files which are all recorded as AVCHD (1920 x 1080P 50) with the file extension .MTS
No, nothing is ever that simple (for me anyway) and as I have said before "the more I learn, the less I know"
I have been saving all my projects to date and note they all have a common .VSP file extension, which when I have tried to turn them into Blu-ray or similar they end up as .m2t files (which nothing I own seems interested in playing apart from the PC)
Burning them to Blu-ray disc at 25fps is no problem and it works when played on any Blu-ray player but that seems self defeating with half the files being lost in the process
My fancy TV fails to recognise these files when subjected to a USB memory stick (that plays on PC) unless I save them as AVCHD, but then I cannot use the full 50fps potential of the Canon Legria HF G30 camera, instead getting about half that
Yes the picture looks good, but how much better could it be? I own a Panasonic Blu-ray disc recorder that is limited to 25fps by virtue of the Blu-ray codec so there again I am limited. It's built in USB port has no cannot see .m2t files - no software?
So yes Trevor - the latest video has been rendered to .m2t but how to get that on my TV screen seems to be my downfall about now - and will they be at 50fps if I do or is there something else I need to know?
Can you please elaborate on your comment about renaming the file extension to MPG as I have no knowledge of this and it may yet be the work around I seek?
By now you must have guessed that if married I have a very patient wife - I think after 45 years of married life she just lets me do my own thing for peace an quiet?

Hi Skipper
"Can you please elaborate on your comment about renaming the file extension to MPG..." - use Windows/File Explorer to navigate to the file you wish to change the extension of. Make sure you have Windows setup to view file extensions. Use a search engine of your choice to get information on how to do this.
Highlight the file name by clicking on it, then right click, choose "Rename File" from the options then highlight the "m2ts" or whatever extension and change to "mpg" or whatever.

Re: Blu-ray for VS10
Just test this with one of your clips. You might want to save it first with another name, just in case. But all you do is in Windows, not in Video Studio. In Windows File Manager, right click on the clip and a long pop-up menu should appear. Down near the bottom you should see "Rename". Select that and a white rectangular box should appear around the clip's name. Put the mouse cursor inside the box and go to the end. Backspace to erase m2t and simply type in mpg to replace it. Hit the Return key and transfer the clip to a USB stick drive and try it on your HDTV.Skipper wrote:Can you please elaborate on your comment about renaming the file extension to MPG as I have no knowledge of this and it may yet be the work around I seek?
I'm a bit surprised, though, since I can play 50P AVCHD clips on my old Samsung HDTV via my Blu-Ray player with their native .m2ts extension with no trouble.
