PSPx8 Upgrade

Post by Fishtug 2 »

Is it possible to upgrade PSPx8 to recognize a new camera and lens? It does not recognize my Olympus EM-10Mkii or the Olympus 12-100 lens-
I have reverted back to PSPx8 as I have an on going problem with PSPx9 that Corel help was unable to solve - When I installed PSPx9 and attempted
to use 'Lens adjustment' I kept getting 'Parameter incorrect' - I contacted Corel and they were unable to help - I purchased the PSPx9 version without
perfectly clear and added those files from PSPx8 - PSPx9 is mostly useless as I cannot access all the features -I have installed/uninstalled at least a dozen times -
My question is can I install the PSPx9 upgraded camera and lens files in PSPx8? Failing that can anyone suggest a work around for correcting the 'Parameter
incorrect" message?

Update - I removed both PSPx8 andx9 - Reinstalled x9 and 'lens adjustment' worked fine the first
time on a JPG file with 64bit- It recognized my EM10 Mkii camera and Olympus 12-100 - The next time
the 'Parameter is incorrect' message and the newer camera/lenses are not available in the menu - When
processing a RAW file it correctly accesses the right camera/lens combo - However I don't always shoot
RAW - Any body have any idea? Is there somewhere else I can go? Thanks

UPDATE-
I just downloaded the trial version of PSP2018 and the problem persists - The first file was fine when I
used 'Lens adjustment' and any file after that the 'parameter is incorrect' appears -
Does anybody have any idea of what to do?

Hello Fishtug 2. You asked whether there is a work around for "The parameter is incorrect" when using Lens Correction - I have investigated this error a bit more and I have some work-arounds.

The problem seems to be that PSP fails to load the lens information for an image if some fields in the EXIF information in your image match the last image on which you used lens correction. So if you swap to an image from a different camera that will work.

I have submitted a bug report containing clear steps on how to reproduce the problem, so it is likely that Corel will fix it in due course. In the mean time here is what to do.

When you get the lens correction "parameter is incorrect" message, press the CANCEL button on the correction but leave the image loaded. Load an image from a different camera, select lens correction. You must press the OK button on this, but you do not need to save the modified image. Just switch back to your original image and lens correction will now work.

It is possible to fix this by clearing a registry setting - and that can also be done without requiring the image you are using to be reloaded. I'm reluctant to post the detailed instructions here for fear of causing someone to get in a mess (and they would vary with PSP version.)

Hi Fishtug,

Just a thought:

If your camera works like my Nikon D7100 the proper lens correction for my Nikon lenses is done in camera to all JPG images. I only need external lens correction from PSP for RAW images.
