Hi,
yesterday I did some tests using JWolters method. I cannot see any difference between the files made using Intel card and Nvidia card. I am not even sure that they are being used.
On the other hand I did similar coding with Cyberlynk Power Director 14 (not the newest version) for the comparison sake. There I could do it using Intel Quick Sync (HW acceleration) or pure SW method. With Intel HW acceleration, the files are created extremely fast, but quality is worse. You can see clear a heavy "Staircase noise" on the straight lines there. SW codec takes much more time then both PD with Intel HW acceleration or VideoStudio codec, but quality is really good.
And PD created HEVC file play back perfectly, without any jumps or strobo effects.
So, my conclusion is: something is wrong with VideoStudio H265 codec, especially at 30 fps.

Hi Pavel
We do not work for Corel, just volunteers helping run the forum, so there is little we can do to fix this other than suggest workrounds.
I would urge you to contact Corel Support
http://www.corel.com/en/support/
They have a Chat line that worked well for me for a previous problem, at least started the escalation process.
But I am sure they will welcome reports of any problems especially with H265 being relatively new to Video Studio.

Re: Jerky 4K video encoded with h265
Hi guys,
I just had Corel on the phone. They called me.
It looks like there is an issue with the h.265 codec and I am not the only one complaining. They work on it but do not promise anything in the nearest future. As soon as they fix it they will let me know. The only workaround is to use other formats for output (=h.264).
I was asking how come that they market VideoStudio as H.265 ready ("- Enhanced! HEVC (H.265) import and export"), the guy just repeated the whole thing again.
So, no HEVC for me right now. It is a pity, because I did the whole upgrade from x8 mainly because of h.265. Ok, and "Intel 6th Gen Core Technology (Skylake) optimization", and "4K Ultra HD video support", but the last one already was in the x8 version, I believe....
I am just wondering, does h.265 work for anyone?

Pavel, it isn't for the first time that the sells department flashes features that practically hardly work.
