Device Error: Cannot open wave-in device

Device Error: Cannot open wave-in device
I am using VS UX10 and have not had a problem with voice over. Just now I get the error "Device Error: Cannot open wave-in device." There was one post on this board for VS 7 and an older Windows version. What is a puzzle is I just used voice over 4 days ago and there was no problem. I just now went through the setup for voice recognition and the mic worked fine. I then followed the directions on the post for VS 7 with exactly the same problem. I went to device manager and uninstalled the mic and restarted my computer and let windows reinstall the device. Still get the same error message. Any suggestions? and what could cause this?

Voice Over fails with Device Error: Cannot Open Wave-In Device
This fails every time when Project Properties are set to use “Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 3/2(L,C,R,SL,SR)”
Please set your Project Properties to use Stereo (2/0(L/R)
Let us know if that fixes your problem.
