Music Library
I am seeking help on an issue with the operation of Videostudio X10 in accessing my iTunes library. I purchased a new PC where I have transferred my ITunes library from my old PC and installed VSX10
My issue concerns the importing of music from iTunes. Using Windows Explorer I can pick out the song and drag it to my VSX10 media library with no problem. However when I try from within VSX10 - right click on the library to 'insert media files' I can follow the path through my iTunes music to the folder containing the song that I want and the song folder or sub folder is empty. Any suggestions.

Hi
And welcome to the forums
I do not use I Tunes so maybe someone more knowledgeable can help.
But I assume I-Tunes has its own library that links to audio files saved on your pc.
When you use VS to Insert Media Files are you targeting the I-Tunes Library or the files on the hard drive.
Make sure you are actually browsing for the same folder you used to drag and drop.

Re: Music Library
My best guess is that the problem is with the DRM (Digital Rights Management). Perhaps this will be helpful:
The only Apple-specific part of old iTunes files is that they're wrapped in DRM (these music files end in the file extension .m4p—the p stands for “protected”—as opposed to .m4a). Apple's DRM is only compatible with Apple products, but AAC files play on a wide variety of players.

After I posted my previous response, I saw this article:

Re: Music Library
Hi
Interesting though…wiselx is able to use the audio files when using Drag and Drop via Windows Explorer, so I do not think the files need any conversion, I may be wrong, as I say I do not use I Tunes.
It is only when using Insert Media Files that the program does not recognise the files?
I guess we need a reply from wiselx
Wiselx, have you tried right clicking the timelines for Insert Audio?

Re: Music Library
Sorry for the delay in answering. It appears that it is the library setup in iTunes, so its not a direct Corel issue. The problem is how iTunes catalogs the Albums/ songs. It seems to have made a lot of my albums into compilations and the compilations have a separate sub directory and a lot of the links are wrong. I'm not out of the woods yet but I did discover that by deleting an album and then reinstating it from my purchases updated the iTunes library file so that songs from the album were now accessible. I have always purchased the background music instrumentals etc (eg Album with 20 instrumentals) and used 'insert media files' to pick the tracks I want from the iTunes music. As I have upgraded to an new PC and VSX10 Ultimate, I still have a few issues to work through. Thanks to those who have given my problem some thought.
