VideoStudio X10 Crashes on Project Playback (.mts only)
Anyone encountering X10 crashing upon project (not clip) playback? It seems to be only with .mts video files. Suggestions?

Re: VideoStudio X10 Crashes on Project Playback (.mts only)
How does it crash? For example: after adding the video clip on the timeline and doing project playback? Is it after doing what editing? what filters? More details and we may be able to help diagnose the problem. .mts video clips from what camera/source? properties of .mts video file?
In the end, getting a small project that fails and sharing it in a cloud storage so we can reproduce may be needed.

Hi
Can you give the properties of your video files. Right click a clip on the timeline and choose properties, what are they?
You could create an image of that panel to attach to your post.
I work with MTS recorded by Panasonic camcorder and have no problems, in fact just imported video from my grandsons school sports day, recorded a couple hours ago.
His team came second, maybe next year, mind you he is only 5

How does it crash? After I add the .mts clip to the timeline and try to play the project, the entire app stops working. I get the standard message: "Corel VideoStudio has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. WIndows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." Upon which, I close the program. I am able to play the clip, but not the project.
However, when I convert the .mts file to .mp4, it plays with no problem both as a clip and as project.
I've attached a screen shot of the .mts video files properties.
Appreciate your time.

Re: VS X10 Crashes on Project Playback (.mts only) - SOLVED
UPDATE: problem solved!
After countless attempts at Google searching using the correct phrase, I came upon a Corel forum post from last year re: .mts files in X9. The poster solved his problem by deselecting "Enable Hardware Decoder Acceleration" within Settings>Preferences>Performance. I thought, why not - it's worth a shot. I did it and now everything seems to be working like a charm.
Thanks, guys, for taking a look at the issue!

Happy you are back in business. Would you please give your pc specs for all of us to know a pc that can give problems with hardware decoder acceleration. Brand, cpu, memory, etc.

Re: VideoStudio X10 Crashes on Project Playback (.mts only)
Hi
I am wondering if the crash is also associated wìth 1440 x 1080 video.
Just a nagging thought that anamorphic video having to be resized to 16 x 9 may have a bearing.
Would be interested in following this up.
Are you able to upload a sample to a sharing site so we can try to replicate the issue.
Of course we may not be able to do, given that our graphics will be different.

Re: VideoStudio X10 Crashes on Project Playback (.mts only)
However, you need to bear in mind here that 1440 x 1080 is the fixed size of HDV video -- a different format, yes, but VS certainly has no difficulty dealing with that frame size. And 1440 x 1080 is also one of the accepted frame sizes for AVCHD video, and possibly also BD-compatible mpeg-2...lata wrote:I am wondering if the crash is also associated wìth 1440 x 1080 video. Re: VideoStudio X10 Crashes on Project Playback (.mts only)
Ken, if you have a 1440x1080 sample, how about trying it with hardware decoder acceleration? Perhaps that combination is where the bug lies.

Re: VideoStudio X10 Crashes on Project Playback (.mts only)
I don't have such a sample in .mts, just in HDV -- and since I always have hardware encoding enabled, and don't have problems at least with HDV, I'm afraid I can't replicate the problem... But if tvellidis can make a small sample available on a site like Dropbox or Onedrive, I'd be more than happy to try it out...

Re: VideoStudio X10 Crashes on Project Playback (.mts only)
Hi
It is unusual for MTS video to cause problems, but somewhere in the back of my mind is the thought that another user had crashes using MTS 1440 x 1080, other than the topic mentioned earlier.
The only difference to 1920 video ---- 1440 is anamorphic and stretched to 16:9 ratio?
Could be completely wrong, if its not the program there must be a difference in our setups.
It would be good to get hold of the 1440 x 1080 video samples.
