Was Smart Selection removed from vesrion X8?

I am unable to find a feature that was handy in JASC PSP 9, which allowed me to select a section of an image, clicking point to point, whereby the edge was marqueed automatically. In this manner I could zoom in for accuracy and select a large area, without losing the tracing when coming to the edge of the screen (cannot use Freehand selection for this reason). I cannot imagine Corel removing such a useful tool. Anybody know where the feature is hidden? I apologize for my attitude, but I just spent an hour searching the near useless manual and combing the toolbar.

No it was not. If it used to be called "Smart Selection" then the name changed is all.

Grab the freehand selection tool (lasso) then on the tool options palette change the mode to either Smart Edge or Find Edge. Find edge just snaps to the nearest edge it can find, smart edge lets draws a box limiting the search area for the edge to a narrow strip.
