Just upgraded to PSP X9 from PSP X6 due to bargain pricing.
I like to float the Tools toolbar. In previous versions, from X6 back to the Jasc days, F2 would toggle the Tools toolbar and the palettes.
In X9, with Tools and various palettes displayed, F2 does a fine job of hiding them. Pressing F2 again brings back the palettes, but not Tools.
Bringing back Tools requires the shortcuts alt -> v -> l -> o which I learnt (British English here) with PSP X6. As a further annoyance, the Tool Options palette does not come back with Tools, requiring a separate F4.
I don't see a obvious way to fix this. As a workaround, I may try docking Tools in place of the Standard tool bar, or creating a custom hybrid toolbar.
Is there another way? Does anyone know why the behavior of F2 would have changed? It seems to me that a "toggle" should toggle things back on if it toggles them off....
For extra credit, in X6, the Tools was usually not displayed when I opened the programme (BE again), hence the alt -> v -> l -> o. Is there a way to ensure a floating Tools toolbar at startup? (Custom workspace or ????)

Re: F2 and floating Tools toolbar in PSP X9
Hi
Seems to have a mind of its own, I am sure this worked when I first started testing.
But now unable to show the floating tools on start, assuming it was hidden when I closed the program.
But we can customise the Keyboard to set Tools to F5.
View – Customise – Keyboard Tab – Category View- choose Tools – F5 ( for New Key) Assign
Does not open with Tools but only one click of F5 to show/Hide
Others on the forum may know a way to launch program to show Tools.
Why don’t you simply dock to left of screen?

Re: F2 and floating Tools toolbar in PSP X9
Hi Trevor,
Thanks for the reply. Docking the Tools toolbar may be the way to go, I've just preferred moving it around up until now. I'll also look into adding a custom hotkey for Tools, always thought there should have been one in the first place.
With the toolbar docked, I noticed one additional issue in PSP X9. The F2 shortcut toggles off the Tool Options palette, but it doesn't toggle it back on again. (The other palettes, like layers and materials, do toggle on and off as expected.)
