CLOSE PROGRAM. but after i closed the program, and brought it back up again it worked fine.
the 64 bit version throw up the following error > Corel PaintShop Pro (64 Bit) has stopped working < a problem as caused the program top stop working correctly. windows will close the program and notify you of a solution.. CLOSE PROGRAM. but after i closed the program, and bring it back up again this error persisted no matter how many times i try.
i contacted Corel and this is there 1st rely.
Hello Bernard,Thank you for contacting Corel Technical Support.
My name is Franco and I have been assigned to your ticket.I am sorry to hear that you are having an issue with the program. Regarding your concern, I would like to suggest to first try to delete all the temp files from your computer and reset your PaintShop X9 to its default settings.
To delete the temp files in your computer, kindly follow the instructions that are provided on the link .http://howto.corel.com/en/c/How_to_remo ... tem_issues
Now, to reset your PaintShop to its default settings, please follow the instructions .In certain circumstances, if PaintShop Pro fails to operate normally, there may be a possibility of either workspace or database corruption. Here are some ways to fix corruption in either one of those areas.
Resetting the Workspace in PaintShop Pro is handy when certain tools or features are missing which need to be retrieved. The following steps will show you how to do this.
Option 1
Open PaintShop Pro (X7,X8,X9)
Click on the File menu
Click on Preferences in the drop down list
Click on Reset Preferences
Add a check mark to these options
Reset Work-space to Default Configuration
Delete all cache files (Active caches rebuilt on restart)
Click the OK button
Option 2
Hold down the SHIFT button on the keyboard
Still holding down the SHIFT button, use the mouse and double left click on the PaintShop Pro (X7,X8,X9) Desktop icon
-Resetting Database-
Resetting the database folder for PaintShop Pro may become necessary in some instances if ever the cache becomes corrupted. The following steps will help reset the database folder in order to resolve any usability problems that may occur.
Press and hold down both the Windows key (to the left and right of the ALT keys) and the R key
When the Run box appears, type the word - appdata - and click the OK button
A new window will appear. This window is the Appdata folder
Open the Local folder
Locate and open the Corel PaintShop Pro folder
Right-click and rename the 19.0 folder to 19.0_old
Press the Return key on the keyboard
and here is my reply below.
hi there Franco, thank you for your fast response,
HAS PSPX9 been DESIGNED TO ONLY WORK WITH W8,W8.1 and W10 AS THEY ARE MORE RECENT OS`s AND NOT WORK WITH W7.
here is a list of the things i have tried, but to no avail. (theses notes relate to PSPX9 64 bit only at this stage).
i have installed PSPX9 on a different drive to see if it would work, but no the problem is still the same.
i have taken all files from PSPX8 and add then to PSPX9 thinking there was a missing file but this did not work either, error still persisted.
option 1 on your list cannot be performed due to the error message locking up the screen, and the only option is to shut down the program.
option 2 part 1 holding shift, and pressing left mouse button twice on the PSPX9 64bit icon brings up the option to> re-set to its default settings< then ok , this did not work either the error still persisted.
option 2 part 2 resetting the appdata had no effect, problem still persists.
why is the PSPX8 32 and 64 bit version working?
why is the PSPX9 32 bit version working?
i have in attached a screenshot of my computer information hope that helps, also done all recent updates.
Are there windows updates that is stopping PSPX9 from working that can be deleted, i seem to remember that was the fault stopping PSPX8 from working the same way but cant remember there update numbers.
i am at a lose and would like any1`s help to solve this problem , looking forward to your answers ans solutions , many thanks Bernie

I don't have a solution for you, however, i can tell you that X9 works fine on W7 (which is what i have) so don't despair. Someone around might be able to help you if they might have experienced something similar. Hang on!

I would try doing a clean install- using the tool at the top of the forum for X9.
Re: "PSPX9 (64bit ) stopped working error" with Windows 7
I am having the same problem which began yesterday. I recently did a Windows update, so I have restored my computer to undo that update. It did not help. I've done a couple of the other suggestions with no results. Yesterday, I uninstalled ProX9 and just reinstalled in this morning. The problem is persisting.
I know there was a Dropbox issue where files within Dropbox corrupted something in ProX9. Are there any other programs that create problems? For instance, I recently added Openshot (video editor) - could that have a conflict?
At any rate, this is beyond disappointing - especially when a clean install didn't resolve the issue.

Check in Control Panel, Programs, if you have .NET Framework 4.7. If you do uninstall it as it is a troublemaker. The rest of your Windows updates should be OK.
If you do uninstall again, use one of the tools listed at top of forum to do a clean uninstall/reinstall. Make sure to restart your computer after uninstall as that clears the registry entries.
Another option is to do a System Restore back to the last point your program was working.

Uninstalled and reinstalled PSPX9 - problem persists.
Have restarted computer each time - problem persists.
Did a System Restore already - problem persists.
Can't find tools listed at the top of the forum.
Can't get a response to the service ticket I have.
Very frustrated as this is costing me time and money. I really don't want to stop to learn new software because that's just more time and money.
