Re: Please help me. Getting discouraged and aggravated
I'm not sure if I understand the whole DLL problem correctly, but as far as I know one has to 'register' DLLs in Windows for them to work correctly. This usually happens on installation of course , but if you're moving things around, or copying, things might go wrong.
I googled "windows 10 register dll" and got quite a few results that seem to be valid for Windows 7 and 8 too.
One result: this is a Microsoft Support article about registering DLLs.
If there are problems you may need to unregister and re-register them.
Good luck.

Re: Please help me. Getting discouraged and aggravated
First, if you need the older DLL files for some of the older plugins, you can download the zip file here:
http://creative-designs.com.au/paintshop/plugins/
Second, I suggest that you download them to a folder. Then unzip them into that same folder. Then copy the 3 DLL files. Then go to both of these folders and paste those DLL files in each of these folders:
C:\Windows\System 32
C:/Windows/SysWOW64
If you actually don't need them it still won't hurt anything to have them in those folders.
Otherwise, I find some of you posts confusing, and am never sure when you're speaking of getting the DLL files into the proper folder or getting the plugin files into their proper folders. The above tells you how to do the former.
As to the latter, I have already explained that if they have an installer you run the installer and, when prompted, select the folders I set out in my previous post for installing them.
For those plugins that don't have an installer and only have 8bf files (they are the actual plugins), I'm not sure how you are trying to place them in folders. I explained previously that you can simply create folders named for each plugin and place the 8bf files in those folders. Again, the simplest way to do that (given you seem to be having difficulty doing it through the unzipping program) is to first unzip them in whatever folder you presently have them stored (perhaps you have them in a Downloads folder or sub-folder?) Then copy the 8bf files, browse to the plugin folder you created with Winddows Explorer, and paste them into that folder.
Other than that, I'm not sure what the problem is. And I'm not sure that you have confirmed that you have both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of PSP installed, which is important to know, as are the plugins you are trying to install.

Unless things have changed since Windows 8, you don't have to register the MSVCRT10.DLL files, just place them in the appropriate folders. They may not even be needed and the OP might have other problems causing the reported issues, but it won't hurt anything to place those DLLs in the proper system folders.Forriner wrote:I'm not sure if I understand the whole DLL problem correctly, but as far as I know one has to 'register' DLLs in Windows for them to work correctly.

Re: Please help me. Getting discouraged and aggravated
Good morning everyone. I'm sorry I haven't responded recently to the posts in this thread. I was out of town. Anyway I'm ready to resume getting help with my PSP issues if anyone is still willing to help me. lol. I need to know where I can go to get these other files (like that msvrct file and all the dll files I'll need for PSP . Only reason I'm asking that is because every link I find is either non working or the files themselves aren't working. Or maybe I'm putting them in wrong or in the wrong place. i'm not sure which one it is. If anyone can still help me with these two issues I"d greatly appreciate the time and help. Thank you in advance.

Since my computer is a 64 bit, with Windows 10, I went back and uninstalled and reinstalled the PSP X9 program. I noticed something though. There is no PSP Program Files folder. Shouldn't there be ?. Do I need to go in and create one on my own ?. As I said I greatly appreciate any and all help any of you can provide. I just don't want to think theres something wrong with this program and that Ive wasted my money. I'm just getting very discouraged and aggravated because nothing i'm doing is working right. I"ve googled things and the instructions given aren't helping solve the problem. Thank you again. Also in 64 bit where do my msvrct and other dll files I need go ?. installng them didn't seem to correct the problem I'm having either. Thank you.

Re: Please help me. Getting discouraged and aggravated
Sorry. At one time, as I recall, the DLL's were on The Plugin Site and, besides 10, included Msvcrt20 and msvcrt40 DLLs. Guess this package doesn't. However, they can likely be located with a Google search if not already on a person's system, but they likely are on all systems. However, 2 other old DLL files that are needed for some old programs can be found at the site you posted a link to ( http://punkinstuff.tripod.com/ ) near the bottom of the page on the left. They are Plugin.dll and msvcrt.dll.hartpaul wrote:Joe that Creative design link has a zip file called plugindll.zip and when unzipped produces only one dll file yet you mention 3 dll files

Re: Please help me. Getting discouraged and aggravated
It might help if you let us know if you are actually very familiar with computers. In earlier posts you stated that you were aware of the Corel folder in Program Files. But here you say that the is no PSP in Program Files. That's because Paintshop Pro is installed in a sub-folder of the Corel folder.gagejennifer wrote:Since my computer is a 64 bit, with Windows 10, I went back and uninstalled and reinstalled the PSP X9 program. Also, a previous reply by someone to you said you should install both the 32bit and 64 bit versions of PSP. Did you do that?
I told you, in a previous post, the folders in which to install the missing DLL files. Those files are also available at the link I provided in my reply to @hartpaul just above this post.
Last, I understand that some Visman plugins might not work unless Data Execution Protection is DISABLED for PSP. Here's a link on how to configure DEP:

Thank you for your help. I am familiar with Paint Shop Pro. But when I had it before I was using versions 7 8 and 9. I'd always seen posts and had help from other sources saying that you had to have certain dll files for it. I went back earlier and uninstalled and then reinstalled the 64 bit version since my computer is a 64 bit. In the other versions it has always worked and I haven't had any problems with it. Until now. So I'm not quite sure where the problem lies and what I"m doing wrong that the plugins aren't working correctly. It's confusing. But I"m going to re-read these posts and try again. Thank you again for your help with all of this. Sorry to be a bother though.

Re: Please help me. Getting discouraged and aggravated
Hmmm. I have used PSP since the Jasc days. I have never had to worry about dll files. I have numerous plugins etc working find with PSP. So why the dll issue. Someone may enlighten me as to how a relatively simple task has become so complicated. As I see it you simply install PSP. And as long as you know were the plugin etc folders are you point PSP to them.
But then I'm a simple kind of a person and this thread seems to have lost me.

Re: Please help me. Getting discouraged and aggravated
You have to pay attention to what people are telling you. That includes installing both the 32bit and 64bit versions of the program even though you have a 64bit operating system! The plugins that you have that worked in the Jasc versions of PSP (7, 8, and 9) will NOT work with the 64bit version of PSPX9, only with the 32 bit version. The Jasc versions of PSP were 32bit programs, not 64bit. That's what we have been trying to tell you, so please install the 32 bit version and then install your plugins, then get back to us.gagejennifer wrote:Thank you for your help. The highlighted may be your problem,.gagejennifer wrote:Thank you for your help. I am familiar with Paint Shop Pro. But when I had it before I was using versions 7 8 and 9. OK to summarise:
1. Uninstall PSP X9
2. Use the cleanup tool mentioned in this post above on this site:
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=52337
3. Update your windows 10 (check for any updates and install).
4. Install PSP X9 and use the recommended - install 32 and 64 bit versions.
5. Run the 32 bit version of PSP, load an image and check Effects > Plugins (is it available or greyed out) and see if you have any plugins installed and active that came with PSP - Nik and KPT
6. Go to This PC and navigate to C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64 type in msvcrt and that will take you to that section of the SysWOW64 folder.
I have
msvcrt.dll
Msvcrt10.dll
msvcrt20.dll
msvcrt40.dll
there.
7. Navigate back to C:\WINDOWS\System32
There I have only
msvcrt.dll
8. Now check your plugin locations
File > Preferences > File Locations > Plugins
I have :
C:\Program Files\Google\Nik Collection
C:\Users\paul\Documents\My Filters Unlimited - This is where I can use VM Sparkle
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X9\PlugIns - this is set up when you install PSP X9
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X9\PlugIns\EN - this contains my KPT filters
When I load an image and do Effects > Plugins I get a choice of:
<I.C.NET Software> Filters Unlimited 2.0
KPT Collection - 24 filters from KPT Blurrr to KPT Turbulence
Nik Collection - 8 groups of filters from Analog Efex Pro 2 to Viveza 2
The Plugin Site > Harrys Filters 4.10
Hope all that helps

AFAIK neither KPT nor Nik come with PSP. KPT is offered as an add-on in the email that comes when you register PSP; and the Nik filters have to be downloaded from Google.com and installed (though they then install in both the 32 and 64 bit versions).hartpaul wrote:5. I wouldn't want to upset Jennifer more if she follows your steps and can't find either KPT or Nik already installed.

Re: Please help me. Getting discouraged and aggravated
Thanks Ken, but that was meant to check if she had any filters installed. I would expect her to come back with a yay or nay at that point and then could instruct her how to install those filters.
I had assumed that if she had done all the installing including the others she had to download that it was worth doing a check to see exactly where she was at this point.

Re: Please help me. Getting discouraged and aggravated
An update sort of..........I did manage to get the Google Nik one installed correctly. It's just the other plugins I"m still having issues getting the other plugins installed. Using Winzip to get the files in place isn't working correctly. And I still can't figure out why or what I"m doing wrong there. I have an agent from Corel offering to do a remote access on my computer to find out if the problem lies within the computer itself. I'm waiting to hear back about that. Again thank you everyone for the help with this issue I've had . Sorry to be a bother.
