Sometimes when working with an image, I find myself repeatedly needing to have the same area selected (but I'm working on different things in-between so I can't just have it selected continuously). Is there a way to "save" a selection (not the contents of selection) so that I can go back to it as quickly as possible as often as I need to? (Does that make sense? lol)
To be clear, this isn't really a "problem". It would just be a helpful feature, so I was wondering if it existed. I use PSP X9.
Save selection (not contents of selection) for quick access?

Re: Save selection (not contents of selection) for quick acc
Yes, under the Selections menu there is an option to save and load selections.
You can save a selection either a) To your harddrive as a file so it can be used in any image or b) to the alpha channel of the current image limiting the selection to that image only. Now, if you save it to the alpha channel you must save the image as a format that supports Alpha channels but not TIFF. TIFF files, when they contain alpha channels, will be read into PSP as a transparent area destroying the image. Best format is PSPImage format for this purpose.

As Levifiction mentions, you can save the selection to your had drive . (you can check in File > Preferences > File Locations > Selections to see where they are saved.
This allows you to use them on other images in other sessions .
You can also save them in the Alpha channel of that image and they will be available for use in other images as long as that image is not closed.
eg with Windows > Tabbed documents unticked :
Image A make selection a1 , save to alpha channel and another a2 and save that to the alpha channel. (Yes you can save many different selections in the alpha channel of that one image)
Image B make selection b1, save to alpha channel, and another b2 and save that to the alpha channel
Minimise both images and load Image C
You can now have access to selections a1, a2, b1, b2 to use on Image C
In addition you can also do Layers > Load /Save Mask to load any of those selections as masks.
This allows you to use them on other images in other sessions .
