I burned 8 mpeg2 video files in DVD-Video format, here are a few questions:
Why does the files still need to be converted since it is already in mpeg2?
The video and audio are sometimes out of sync, how can I prevent that?
What input format has the shortest converting time?
(My video files were originally in rm format, i converted them using WinAVI)
Video and Audio out of sync
In general if it's exactly in the DVD format, it does not need to be converted. (And, re-coding an MPEG file will degrade the video quality.) I'm not sure how Movie Factory handles compliant files, but if you're not changing the bitrate or the already-multiplexed audio format, all movie factory has to do is create the AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS folders and break the file into .VOB files. Why does the files still need to be converted since it is already in mpeg2?
Search the forum for "sync" and you'll find lots of suggestions & possible solutions. The video and audio are sometimes out of sync, how can I prevent that?
When it happend to me, it was caused by corrupted files. The corruption didn't show-up 'till the files were "converted" or re-multiplexed. And, MPEG files can be corrupted simply by editing them!
