File not found after render

Post by Chippy 68 »

I have been working on a project with no problems - saving each file successfully to a designated folder but the final file, ironically the beginning of the film, is nowhere to be found once created. Where is it saving to? Hope someone can help, thanks.

Have you looked in Documents > Corel VideoStudio Pro > X10.0?

Yes have checked everywhere Ken - nowhere to be found. The project is also not playing after being created.

Perhaps you could tell us a little more about your process - you say you "saved" a video - does that mean you just went "File >> Save" - because the does not save a video file - did you use the "share" tab at all what did you do in there ?

Can you tell us step by step what you did after editing ?

As with all the other projects I selected share - create video file - same as project settings - save in - save in folder where previous mpgs were saved- project then renders but is nowhere to be found

After it finishes rendering, does a new thumbnail, with the name of the project, appear in the Library window?

Have you tried re-rendering the project, or even just the first (missing) clip? If so, what happens. If the re-rendered first clip works fine, can you put that in the project and render the whole project again?

Hi
Clutching at straws here.

Do you receive any messages after hitting Start?

Where are you saving the file to, the File Location showing in Share.
If that is on an external drive, is that drive using file system Fat32 or NTFS
If Fat 32 there is a file limit of 4 Gb, if your rendered file goes over that it is likely that it will not be saved, that may depends on file type, I think Mpeg will simply disappear.

How long is the file/s you are saving?
From Share, press the End navigation button below the preview screen, what does the digital clock show.

Thanks for your insight. In the end with a deadline fast approaching I redid the beginning, leaving out some jpegs and not altering speed of some frames. The project then appeared, like normal,as a thumbnail in the library and also saved in the folder holding the other files. Still not sure the reason behind the initial problem but thanks very much for your help.

Hi

Out of interest, how large in Mb/Gb was that file you finally rendered successfully?

I've experienced the "File not found after render" which in my case is due to VS X10 silently crashing during rendering and then being left open on the Share tab as if nothing happened. In this case, you have to watch the render to see at what % it crashes and go from there.
