Cheap Price - Video Studio 10

Post by trueblue »

I've just been offered VS 10 for $32.00 AUD to purchase the full version. It is $79 to upgrade so you can guess what I did! It's installing as I type. Plus it's a nice 64bit version.
I'm looking forward to learning the new features!

Hi

Nice one...
Is that the Ultimate Version? when they gave deals for X9 it was the Ultimate.

Maureen can you do me a favour, tell me the size of the WebInstaller file.
Is it 10.796Kb or 10,860kb

And can you view the installation folder here:-
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio X10
and
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio X10

And why, a new web installer file seems to install 64 bit program to C:\Program Files (x86) and not C:\Program Files
So just wondered what files are being given to new purchases.

Cheers

It was about 10MB. Yes, I can see the programme in ProgramFiles (x 86) but strangely, not in 64bit even though the installation was for 64bit. This is extremely odd!

It takes a while to load. Not as fast as previous X8 which is what I had.

Something quite odd. It placed a 64bit folder on my desktop! Why would it do that? I also checked the C drive and now find it's there too. Most of the files are in Program Files (x86) / Corel / Corel VideoStudeo X10..........why is it called X10 rather than 20.....lol

Hi Maureen

When we first run the Web Installer a folder is created on the desktop called Video StudioX10, or some similar name.

Then we can choose another save location for our downloaded files, well I do as I don’t want the files on my desktop.
All download files are saved to this folder, it is these that are used to install the program.
If you have chosen a new save location then the desktop folder will be empty and can be deleted.

The older Web Installer at 10.796Kb installed to the correct location, but did not give us the opportunity to choose an installation folder, C drive was always used, some wished to install to another drive. This was requested during Beta testing.
Recently we noticed the web Installer had been updated to 10.860KB which now allows us to choose an installation folder.

Then I noticed the 64 bit files were being installed to the 32 bit project folder (Program Files (x86))

I have told Corel about this, another forum user confirms Corel Support are aware, which begs the question why don’t they stop providing 10,860Kb version till they fix the file?

And the name, debatable, but earlier versions were X7, x8, x9, then what? X10 seems the obvious choice.
However there are some files on your pc relating to 20, Hmmm
View your C:\Users\Trevor\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro
There you will find both x10.0 and 20.0 folders.

Downloaded files
Web Installer is called VideoStudio_Install.exe at 10.86 Kb, although this file may have different names
Vspx10seo.exe at 10,860Kb is the same beast, just to confuse us.

Three folders
1 / 64Bit folder has 3 sub folders
Ultimate folder contains the Main program
Standard Content – installed additional library clips, templates, this would complete the Pro installation.
Bonus Features – this installs the ProDad stuff, upgrading Pro to Ultimate.
2 / A Common folder contains additional stuff
3 / StandardContent2 – again more stuff

The only reason I see for separate folders is to reduce download times, at 5.2 Gb its bit.

Clear as mud
