VideoStudio Changing Videos to Look Like "Negatives"
Can someone please explain why VideoStudio9 would suddenly begin making all new video uploads look a bit (though not totally) like an old-fashioned photograph negative???
I've attached a screenshot I took of my desktop. This is AFTER I've spent time adjusting things to make it look more normal. All initial uploads now look more extreme.
Thanks.
Chris

Hi
You do not give any details of the files / clips you are using.
I assume you have a clip in one of the overlay tracks, yet your image does not show that.
Is your clip a video or image, I suspect a Png image with maybe a transparent background.
Can you give more details of the files you are using.

Re: VideoStudio Changing Videos to Look Like "Negatives"
The file is a MOV file.
I'm using a green screen and the image you see in my pic is using ChromaKey.
It's worked fine for months, but suddenly is making me look a bit like an 35mm film negative used to make things look. Not completely, obviously, but still the quality is suddenly very poor and unacceptable.
Does this answer your questions? Thanks.

what about you GPU settings? it has also some video playback setting.
And when no ChromaKey applied , clips OK?

Re: VideoStudio Changing Videos to Look Like "Negatives"
You mean CPU, not GPU, right? I don't know what my settings are, but I haven't changed them, so I would think this isn't the issue.
It does now seem that perhaps it's just the ChromaKey function, because the video looks ok when not in chromakey. That said, I need to use chromakey. And the poor quality isn't just seen in editing. I've rendered MP4's to see if the problem is only in editing mode, but the quality in an MP4 is also poor.
Thanks.

"It does now seem that perhaps it's just the ChromaKey function"
That make sense as you didn't set it correctly.
**And no , I did meant GPU. you graphic card has video settings.

What do you mean "I didn't set Chromakey correctly?" How can you tell?
And what is the "correct" setting?
I haven't changed anything. Chromakey worked just fine until yesterday and only started acting up on its own. Thanks.

Re: VideoStudio Changing Videos to Look Like "Negatives"
Have you retried it with the VideoStudio based chromakey instead of the FX one? The built in one gives you a lot of control. Can't speak for the FX version - never used it as I find the VS version does all I want.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.
Re: VideoStudio Changing Videos to Look Like "Negatives"
To be honest, I've had ongoing problems with VideoStudio periodically and arbitrarily changing settings on me.
I originally used ChromaKey as you suggest (although I now forget how I did that). The first time VideoStudio changed my settings on me, I researched online tutorials again and the source I found was using ChromaKey in FX. I followed their tutorial and was able to get VideoStudio chromakey to work again. But, as I said, I've forgotten how I used chromakey outside of FX.
Can you offer advice as to how I'd do that? I appreciate it.
Obviously it would be nice if Corel was better at programming. I've never before had software that changed settings whenever I did updates or just arbitrarily on its own.
Thanks.

Re: VideoStudio Changing Videos to Look Like "Negatives"
Put background on main track. Put green screen clip on the overlay track. Select green screen and click on Options. Click on "Mask & Chromakey" and then on "Apply Overlay Options", select ChromaKey from the drop down list. I then select the "dropper" icon and click on the green background of the overlay picture. Play with the Gamma control until you get the effect you want.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Thanks. I'm away from laptop now but will try later. Appreciate your help! Cheers.

Tried as you recommended, but it doesn't change anything. Still having the gamma problem. Does anyone have another possible solution to VideoStudio arbitrarily and suddenly creating gamma issues with all new upload MOV files? Thanks.

Re: VideoStudio Changing Videos to Look Like "Negatives"
Hi
Were these videos recorded in the same location and lighting conditions as previous ones that worked.
If the face has a green colour cast then that would also be affected when applying Chroma Key, Just thinking out loud.
Have you tried choosing a slightly different Green instead of the auto select colour?
