VS X9: No audio from tracks while recording voice over
While recording a voice over I cannot hear the audio of the video track or any other track. The voice over is recorded successfully, but how can I force VS X9 to hear the audio of all the other tracks while recording? Is there any setting or any work-around?
I have already reset VS X9 to its defaults, but it does not solve the problem.

Re: VS X9: No audio from tracks while recording voice over
Is there anybody who could let me know, if you can hear the audio from other tracks while recording the voice over?
Could anybody test it with VideoStudio X9 or X10?
Thanks

Yes, you should hear the video track audio whilst recording the voice over audio, make sure that in Settings, Audio Settings, both voice and system audio are enabled

Hi
As far as I know the speakers are muted when doing Voice Over, otherwise you would also record any background sound.
Have you tried using HeadPhones, they should work ok?
I have not used Voice Over for a while, but sure the sound is muted, I will check again?

Re: VS X9: No audio from tracks while recording voice over
Hi Trevor,
Using a wireless headset, I can hear the video audio whilst recording the voice over and both audio tracks can be heard when played back, but what I cannot do is separate the voice over from the video audio, so cannot increase/reduce the sound level as required

Re: VS X9: No audio from tracks while recording voice over
Hi
Well I am having problems using Voice Over with an error “ cannot connect to device”.
But sure that when I have done Voice Over that the new clip contains the Mic input only and not sound from any other source, that was using HeadPhones mutes the speakers.
I do not have wireless headphones.
Unfortunately my old pc is on its last legs, upgrade pc on order?
Are your audio recording set to system audio or Mic input?

Re: VS X9: No audio from tracks while recording voice over
For the purposes of testing, both voice and system audio are activated, am aware that the system audio level can be adjusted in the Settings panel, but that is not a very satisfactory way of obtaining correct sound levels. Will try another test with system audio disabled to see if I can get two audio tracks showing

Re: VS X9: No audio from tracks while recording voice over
Hi Robert
I have now tried my laptop running Windows 7 and X10 but again get the error message.
Strange though the first attempt to do Voice Over works, then subsequent voice overs shows the error.
I think we need others to test this.
But again I am sure that a video in the top track would be silent when doing Voice Over and that the recording would be the mic input only.

Re: VS X9: No audio from tracks while recording voice over
Hi Jey
Apologies for the long replies, but I did have a problem using voice over, it appears that my MTS files using surround sound affected voice over.
Using other files allowed has me to capture voice over.
Yes the video on the upper tracks Overlays and top track are silent whilst Voice Over is recording.
However I can hear the sound using HeadPhones which allowed me to record without interference from the timeline audio.

Re: VS X9: No audio from tracks while recording voice over
There appears to be two ways in which a voice over can be recorded
Option 1 - which is for capturing voice recording only
Press the Record/Camera Option button below the preview screen and select voice over, adjust the Volume and start recording, with this option the video is muted whilst recording and a .wav file is placed in the voice track when finished
Option 2 - for capturing video and voice recording at the same time (Live Screen Capture)
Select Capture, then select Live Screen Capture, when the Live Screen Capture window opens, select Settings and in Audio Settings ensure both Voice and System audio are enabled, select video to be recorded and press start, with this option you can now hear the video audio whilst recording the voice over. With this method, no separate .wav file is created for the voice over and a new file is created which now incorporates the voice over component

all Windows audio settings are correct. I use headphones while recording the voice over. And I can hear all tracks when I play back the voice over or the entire project. But I cannot hear the other tracks while recording the voice over. So I should the audio of the other tracks while recording?
I record the voice over with option 1.RobertOZ wrote:There appears to be two ways in which a voice over can be recorded

So, finally I should hear the audio while recording with option 1 - or not?
It really does not make any sense to mute the other tracks - especially while using headphones!
