How to toggle subtitles on/off?

I have captured an avi video file from a camcorder into UVS9. I have also added some subtitles to the video clip, and authored it to a DVD.
Could someone please advise how to make/create the subtitles in the video clip that I could toggle the subtitles on/off during playback on a DVD player?

VideoStudio does not have that feature...

Ulead's Advanced Authoring package (DVD Workshop 2.x - Full or Express) allows you to add subtitles and turn them on/off...
