Live Screen Capture fails every time
Am I doing something wrong or does live screen capture have issues? Each time I try to capture video from any source on the Internet it fails each time the matter if I try to do the whole screen or custom screen or drop-down and it recognizes a YouTube video or another different video the minute I press record it fails and it gives me a I think of zero code.
Is this an issue or my doing something incorrectly?
Thanks in advance

Hi
If you do a screen capture of your desktop without your internet browser running does that records ok.
I guess I am asking if capturing you tube video is the problem?

Re: Live Screen Capture fails every time
No Trevor, it doesn't record anything at all whether the browser is playing YouTube, or any other video source on the Internet. That's why I think something's wrong with it. Hope that helps

Re: Live Screen Capture fails every time
Why do you not just download the video and capture in into VS in the normal way?
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Re: Live Screen Capture fails every time
Hi
I found using the web browser Torch.... http://torchbrowser.com/ allowed me to download any video playing on my pc, at the click of a button.
Then once downloaded I import to video studio for editing.
That of course does not help in getting the Screen Capture working.
Can you try right clicking the desktop Live Screen Capture icon and choose Run as Administrator. Does that work?
I do not know why the screen capture is giving problems, there does seem to be a few complaints, for me it works ok?

I'm read more to see what this torch browser is and make sure it's not anything that could infect my computer. I guess I've never heard of it so I'm not sure how secure it is if at all, or could be totally secure. If you know anything that you care to share about this new browser that you're recommending I would be interested in knowing it meanwhile house read it on the website and see what I come up with.
That still doesn't explain why a program/utility that came with VideoStudio 10, that's what I was hoping to find out what's going on with it but I do appreciate you offering another browser that can capture video off browsers.

for some reason I'm getting notifications on some posts and others I'm not hiding get a notification on yours so I didn't know that you had posted another question sorry I missed it. If I do what you suggested is right clicking and running as administrator I get the same thing every time that happens every time I try it with every variety of video that's available through a browser I get a red rectangle, transparent and then the failed message that says #0
Sorry I missed your 2nd post again

Re: Live Screen Capture fails every time
Hi Ron
Are you using duel monitors or a single monitor?
I know others that use duel monitors have had problems?
Just a thought?
As for Torch, I have installed with no problems, I do not set as default browser and only boot when I want to capture video, normally for testing on this forum, otherwise I do not capture video.

Re: Live Screen Capture fails every time
yes I do have dual monitors, when it opens it opens on my primary monitor. I guess if I wanted to test to see if dual monitors are the issue, I could unplug one which would really make a mess because I got a lot of desktop shortcuts that would then call go on my original monitor and then I'd have to move them all again.lata wrote:Hi Ron

Maybe I'll try the torch I was reading that you can disable the torrent part I just don't want somebody to to be able to access my computer and I don't know that much about torrent so that's why I'm hesitant to use it, are read more about it though.
Thanks

Re: Live Screen Capture fails every time
Hi,
Corel has a tutorial on screen capture, using the capture tool that's supplied with VS on installation: has it's own desktop icon, and can used independently of VS, or started from the VS capture mode screen. Like all tuts, it glosses over some things, but it's a good intro on how to use the screen capture tool.
As to why use it rather than download the video - sometimes capturing is both easier and faster. Especially with material from Youtube, or any other source which has the video in a small window surrounded by ads or other gotchas you really don't want in the captured material. Start the capture, open the source, eg You tube, with out playing, configure to use capture on just the playing window (in the capture tool, click on fullscreen arrow and use mouse, click and drag over the play window, box outline appears around it). Start the capture tool, after the countdown is finished, start the video in the preview window. When it's finished, stop the capture. The tool has selectable boxes for the output file name and folder etc. The result is an .wmv file, can played in VS or any media player.
If you are right into making movies or any video production, using this tool will become an essential item in your kitbag: you can't personally record everything. Then you need to review your local laws on copyright, and include attribution if necessary in the final result.

Re: Live Screen Capture fails every time
I agree with everything you're saying David, my point is screen capture is packaged with VideoStudio 10, it doesn't work for me I get fails each time I try to run it. I realize there are other ways to capture video is playing on your browser, I appreciate your input very much in your attempt to try to help me. But it seems like rather than addressing or helping with why a Corel package product is not working everyone is seeming to redirect me to other ways of capturing video in browser. I appreciate that help however I'm still having an issue with screen capture that is packaged with VideoStudio 10.
If nobody here has had that problem or if they've had the problem and just chose not to deal with it that's fine. I guess I can always contact Corel directly to see if they have a fix for it, who knows they may.
Please don't get me wrong I don't appreciate everybody's input I know you're trying to help me, but finding it alternative way to capture browser video still doesn't address the issue of screen capture that comes with VideoStudio 10. After all this forum is a forum for VideoStudio 10 and I would assume any programs that is packaged with it. If I'm forced to I will use a workaround as many of you have suggested however I would prefer for the product to work and that's what I'm trying to find the answer to I hope you understand.

Re: Live Screen Capture fails every time
Hi
Regarding duel monitors, I do recall others having some issues with Screen Capture but unsure of the outcome?
I only have the one monitor so cannot try to replicate the problem.
is the problem associated with your screen resolution, are your screens using 100% scaling or has this been increased?
Are you able to capture from each monitor? have you tried capturing from each, just a thought!
Have you re-installed the program?
To uninstall please try the cleanup tool ----download from this post

Re: Live Screen Capture fails every time
I'm able to capture video on both monitors depending on where I move the browser, meaning if I move it to my second monitor and there's video playing I'm able to capture it and on my primary monitor as well. I do have a plug-in for Firefox that allows me to download YouTube videos, and I know as many of said for a few of you said that there are other options to capture video, as I just said I'm aware of that and that's not the reason of my post although I do appreciate the suggestions. What I've been doing now whenever I want to download something if it's on YouTube I'll just copy the URL from chrome into Firefox and then download YouTube video. So I do have a workaround however screen capture would allow me to capture video that isn't you to that I can't download that's why I would like it to work or figure out a way to make it work.lata wrote:Hi

As far as uninstalling VideoStudio 10, I am about to install a new solid-state hard drive and a new full version of Windows 10 as him having some issues with their upgrade then I got for free. So once I do that I will have to install VideoStudio 10 again and I guess after I install it I can report back and let you know if screen capture is working or still not working.
Thanks for all your help and advice I appreciate every bit of it.
