Unable to play mp3 files in video studio 9

Post by marquinho_boy »

While trying to insert an mp3 file in video studio 9 i'm getting following error message:

Unable to play the file
error in initialization
18906:2:3

I have also video studio 8 but no problem doing same operation

Does anyone know if I require a special codec for VS9? is my codec corrupted?

Where did you get the mp3? Did you encode it yourself? Some of the purchased mp3's like from iTunes or Napster are encoded to prevent them from being inserted into editors.

Try rencoding it. I use Musicmatch Jukebox.

MP3 doesn't support Digital Rights Management (DRM).

However, there have been reports in this forum of problems with MP3 files, which others don't seem to encounter. It may be that these files are damaged or encoded incorrectly.

One thing to try it to convert the MP3 files to WAV format before adding them to the UVS project. That seems to have helped when using MP3 files caused problems.

Thanks both of you for your replys

Basically what surprised me was... same MP3 in VS8 is working while on VS9 is not.

As a workaround, I've converted to WMA or WAV as you mentioned
